Picks up where Naked Raygun left off!: Earwig is undoubtedly Pegboy's "best sounding" CD and argueably their best. The boys went way out of their way this time to get that "Raygunesk" sound by teaming up with their old pal, Ian Burgess, now living in France. They told me the trip to France was the worst experience of their lives, and that they will never record with old "fartpants" again, but am I ever glad they colaborated this one last time. The feel of this CD reminds me of Naked Raygun's Jettison, only Joe's drum beats are more driving, John's guitar chords more complex, and Lary's lyrics more desperate. Pierre's bass sounds just about as juicy on Jettison... but I digress. As you can tell by now I am a huge Naked Raygun fan, but over the years Pegboy has stolen my heart and made me their #1 fan. If you're curious and were going to dable by trying one Pegboy CD, this is by far my top recomendation for exploring with. Earwig is Pegboy's catchiest and most listenable CD all the way through. I always felt if they ever had a chance for any comercial success, (that is if they ever wanted any) this was the vehicle to achieve it with. Any of the first 7 songs have radio listenability. Oh well, you never know, maybe Pegboy hasn't had their day in the sun just yet? In conclusion: If you like hard driving, electrifying, adrenalin pumping, hard core, old school, punk rock...pick up Pegboy's Earwig, it's guaranteed not to dissapoint.
PEGBOY IS NOT RAYGUN!: Don't buy any pegboy cd's if you expect to hear Raygun II. Not even close. Not that Pegboy is a bad band, they are definitely worth a listen.
