Five years on, this picks up where Skaravan left off, still largely a mix of older Jamaican tunes and jazz (including a glorious reading of Herbie Hancock's "Butterfly"). This also throws some pop and soul into the stew, with "I Heard It Through the Grapevine" being a standout. This is still, by and large, the same band, but time has made them tighter, and added a vibrant, confident swing to the sound; these are guys who are quite obviously used to playing with each other. As should be the case, the music is still very much rooted in JA, moving easily from ska (including Skatalites covers) to the skinhead reggae of the title track. This isn't a ska band that plays jazz; it's a jazz band that touches on ska. Lovely. --Chris Nickson

Rockin' well executed old time Ska:
I hope that it is time that this world has begun to appreciate the ska/jazz music that is represented with this record. The Skatalites began this type of music. Double Barrel continues in their tradition. The modern rock world owes a debt to the Skatalites and Mr. Ernest Ranglin for birthing a music that defies time, change and a whole lot of messing with. Double Barrel proves with this record that Ska/Jazz is timeless. Modern boys gone good. Try yourself a little test. Listen to every bit of music that you hear(commercials,filler soundtracks etc) you will be surprised at how much ska influenced music you will hear. I applaud this band for doing such a heartfelt service to it's listeners with this record.

Power Roots Ska:
This one will boom shaka your soul. Great horns power over these strong roots ridyms. (Theme from) Exodus and a cover of Bacharach's Walk on By are two highlights. Definitely happy music. If you're a fan of the Scatalites, this is right there.
