This really IS "Spinal Tap": Not literally, of course, but this IS the band (along with a few others) that the satirical movie "This is Spinal Tap" was modeled after. They have also been copied by many big "metal" bands such as Metallica. If you are a metal fan, and I assume you are if you are reading this, and haven't heard this cd yet, then RUN, don't walk to get it. If you are a blues/rock fan you'll want to grab it also, because these guys really turn some blues inside out here. This was the 1st Budgie album I ever heard and I've heard almost all the rest since, but none are as good as this one. Every track is worthy of 5 stars except "Wondering What Everyone Knows" (what everyone actually was wondering is how this "early Beatles" sounding tune got on this album). But every Budgie album seems to have that one "La La" track anyway. I won't elaborate on every track here but I will mention that "Zoom Club" is my personal favorite, with a very innovative guitar part that includes what sounds like Tony Bourge either rapidly unplugging and plugging the guitar jack while getting great feedback or else he just had a short in his guitar cord that he knew just how to tweak. Either way it is some great stuff.
Junior Led Zeppelin: If you like Led Zeppelin you will Like Budgie for sure both are first class heavy rock bands , but you will find alot of noise , unwanted sounds and some beginners Solos in Budgie's music , the worse member of Budgie is the Drummer , He is terrible and he is the most one who is making noise in this band !!! and sometimes he ruins the whole song (but not in this album), but to give you some hope he is much better than the one Oasis have ! regardless of what I've said above I gave them 5 stars !!! yes because they have the same pure heavy music core , the best to describe budgie is that they are Led zeppelin at the age of 12 the the Genius will stay Genius no matter how old is he ,and that what happened with Budgie , Give the notes they wrote to led Zeppelin and you will heare Pure Led Zeppelin ( but you have to throw away the Drummer's notes and let John Bonham handle it "if he still alive ") they are NOT Led Zeppelin but they are Heavey as much as Led Zeppelin if you are confused , Don't care about the money and buy it ,and you will understand what I have said
HUMONGOUS GRINDING SLABS OF LAWNMOWER NOISE: Which is a good thing, of course, and if you don't think so, you may as well stop reading and go take a look at the John Denver catalogue. I'll make this short and sweet. Listen to the first (yes, ONE) note of the title track. If you aren't immediately drawn into it and loving it, you have no heavy metal soul. Of course, when the riff kicks in, you'll wonder like I did why Hetfield and Co. didn't cover this tune as well as the two Budgie tunes they DID cover. If ever there was a spiritual successor to Metallica, IN FOR THE KILL was it. Turn it up. Bleeding makes your ears tougher!
