A beautiful cd: Just had to correct the impression left by the other review. The music on this album is sublime, one of the best in the 4AD label style and one of the favorites of my couple thousand CDs.
Diazepam 10 mgs: Coming home from 1985's much acclaimed "Domo Arigato" concerts in Japan, Vini Reilly decided to make another album with resemblance to chamber music. In contrast to the halfway memorable and decent efforts "Another setting" and "Without mercy", "B & C" explains why his neo-classical project eventually collapsed in a heap of pretentions and extravaganzas. "Tomorrow" with Vini's sensitive singing and the wonderful melody of "Hilary" are very much the exception that proves the rule. Some songs are the least inspired and most boring Vini has ever done, for instance, "Street fight" (with sampled machine-guns!), "Royal infirmary", and "Black horses". "Dance I" is just a cover version of Anne Clark's "The last emotion", taken from 1983's "Changing places", an album Vini once wrote the music for. Tootling around with pianos, violins, and sequencers cuts no ice with me because it lacks the elegant and delightful tunes for typical for DC's work. Fortunately, subsequent albums like "The guitar and.." marked a return to DC's well-known style.
