Truly Magical Music: I think I picked up Govi's "Andalusian Nights" in a bargain bin somewhere...and what an incredible find!! This is the music that often plays through my house throughout the weekend when I am hanging with the family, relaxing and barbequing with friends. It sets a mood of relaxation and thoughts of far away lands and adventures. It's magical and beautiful and it flows with some kind of rhythym that you just can't help to react to...so I'm here checking out Govi and trying to figure out which one I should choose next. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated :)
Special enchanting moments in Andalusian Nights: Out of eight (8) 'regular' album releases (minus the compilation works of "Your Lingering Touch" & "No Strings Attached") from GOVI, I've already bagged six (6)! "Mosiaco", GOVI's oven-fresh release of 12 Mar 2002 is already on the way to me via amazon.com. That increases the count to seven (7)! Only "Sky High" is missing from my treasure chest. Doesn't that speak volumes for GOVI-appeal? It has the "(GO)" and the sparkle of a perfectly composed picture with sharp, vibrant, vi"(VI)"d colours! I've written similar reviews for GOVI's other albums in amazon.com. Andalusian Nights is special and it has GOVI's 'signature' sounds of immensely addictive, catchy and rhythmic melodies, and a wide appeal of instruments, played with heart and soul. I fully agree with Ronit below that Andalusian Nights will wake up every human cell, and have them immersed in MUSIC! It has the correct mix of slow smoulderingly good tracks, mids and fiery fast ones as well. (Imagine the fresh whiff from your favourite 'just-roasted' arabica coffee beans!) Ahhhhh ! Highly recommended. (Ronit, take it from me - you will find the 'feel-good' factor in GOVI's other offerings. You must check out "Cuchama", "Passion & Grace", "Guitar Odyssey", "Heart Of A Gypsy" (from Real Music); and "Mosaico" and "Seventh Heaven" (from Higher Octave). They are true musical wonders.)
Govi's Andalusian Nights is magic: I cannot believe someone rated this cd a 2 star. He must be kidding...or maybe he has no spirit or soul. Andalusian nights woke up every human cell in my body. I've listened to it hundreds of times in my car. I found the cd by chance by browsing in the library, now I want to explore all his other cds. Everyone who happened to listen to it while I have it on is hooked. When I listen to this music - I feel as if I am flying on top of beautiful sunny beaches and towns in Spain. You must get it! (Ronit)
Best record I've bought in a long time: Downloaded Andalusian Nights as MP3 and it took me about 3 seconds to deside that I should buy this record There is not a single tune on this album that is NOT worth listening to. There are few albums I have encountered where every single track is a hit, but here it is BUY IT
Beautiful intimate album: I first heard this album at an audio shop in Costa Mesa, CA. The sales person used it as a demo to show how good the equipment sounded. The music was so pretty and so well recorded that I went and bought it. Govi's guitar is beautifully recorded. (You know the artists cared about the sound they put on the CD when the liner notes tell you the type of microphones and amps used.) The album is recorded with all the close miked warmth of many new age guitarists, but is more lush. The music sensual and very inviting -- a nifty mix of Latin rythms, and "nouveau flamenco" guitar work -- light and airy, like an intimate spot overlooking the ocean at sunset. It is nice to get away from the typical rock, soft jazz, and other assorted junk played on the radio.
