From Amazon.com: Leonard Bernstein's complete Beethoven cycle with the Vienna Philharmonic has been a favorite since it was recorded in the late 1970s. On Bernstein in Vienna, we can hear three of his best Beethoven performances on two budget-priced CDs. Symphony No. 4 is a straightforward, yet solid performance. Bernstein's Pastoral is effective, with a nice thunderstorm contrasting the slower tempos in the opening movements. Meanwhile, the 9th is Bernstein at his best. All in all, this is a great introduction to the conductor's talents. --Jason Verlinde
