Too vintage for me: This collection might appeal to vintage radio enthusiasts, but it was too strange for my taste. Many of the recordings (like "Grandfather's Clock") sound rather operatic, not good for sing-a-longs, which I hoped they would be. I was disappointed.
This is the best CD I have heard.: I am a collector of rare audio, I find cultural relics in the form of old recordings fascinating. I enjoy putting myself into the mindset of past times, it gives life to cultural history, plus the scratchy hollowness and distortion of old records creates a pleasing gothic effect. Together with old religious recordings ones for children are my favorite and I've wished for a CD just like this one for a long time. There's nothing I would change about this CD. The selection is excellent. The mood it creates is so effective that I first heard it on Halloween when someone used it to create atmosphere for trick-o-treaters! I would certainly reccomend it.
Hard to Find Favorites: This cd is chock full of tunes you may remember from when you were a child. Chances are that many of them were already vintage tunes even then. But try to find a good recording of Teddy Bear's Picnic and Ragtime Cowboy Joe. The recordings range from the '20s to the '50s, and it's interesting to see how much we have lost in children's music. Nostalgic and fun.
Fun, nostalgia for grandparents: I like this cd for my 13 month old son, but it makes his grandparents even happier. A good overall choice.
