Tony Starks reigns SUPREME!!!!: 2000 was a vastly different place for hip hop. It wasn't wack(like it is today)by any means, but different. Ghostface stepped out and dropped his second album, Supreme Clientele, and it's a certified banger. With the Wu-Tang sound already in question around this time, Ghost proved he could hold the weight, succeeding in being the most consistant of ALL the Wu members, and this album shows why. Here's the review: Album Highlights: Everything here KNOCKS, but THE highlights are Nutmeg, Saturday Night, Ghost Deini, Apollo Kids, Buck 50, Sray True, We Made It, Malcolm, Child's Play, and Cherchex Laghost. No filler. Production: Thumbs up. RZA and some other unknown lay down the tracks on this one. Great music. Lyrics and Subject Matter: Thumbs up. Even though at times Ghost can say some things that can go over the head of the average individual(sometimes you don't know what he's talking about), his charisma and outstanding flow do more than make up for that. Originality: Thumbs up. Ghostface works with some new producers on this one, which, aside from the material on this album, is the only thing new here. The Last Word: A couple of pointless skits means I can't in good consciousness give this 5 stars, but if you eliminate those skits, you have an ALMOST flawless album that MAY or MAY NOT succeed in being better than Ironman. Ghostface showed why he even surpassed Method Man as being the most popular Wu member, and he took it another level with this album. Strongly recommended.
This cd has nice beats: ghostface has released his best cd to date i am waiting for the pretty tony cd to drop maybe it will be as good as this check out one of the best wu tang clan solo albums Favorite Track;Apollo Kids Guests:Raekwon,Method Man Other: some may be turned off by ghost's voice 7.5 of 10 lyrics 9.5 of 10 beats
I still listen to this album...: I got this CD when it first came out, and it has yet to become tired for one reason. Ghost's rhymes are so deeply encoded, I am still just figuring them out now. Lines like "Rhymes are made of Garlic..." sound trivial at a first listen, but once more deeply examined reveal hidden meanings (think about it...) On top of this, the album is constructed with some of the hottest beats (see: Mighty Healthy) that fit together to form a cohesive package that is listenable from begining to end. Lastly, the skits are hillarious (see: Woodrow the Basehead) and are still entertaining after hearing them numerous times. Plus this album has one of my personal favorite club songs, Cher Chez La Ghost which rounds the album out along with great collaborations which never seem forced (see: Buck 50). If you are a fan of hip-hop you owe it to yourself to own this album.
Great, probably his best album: Ghostface Killah - Supreme Clientele (Epic, 2000) "I'm bout to save hip hop/Like Ghost did the Wu." When Freddie Foxxx said this, he was referring to this album by Ghostface, which is the best Wu sophomore album. While you won't find many Ghost solo tracks on here like "Malcolm", almost every track is bangin'. You can tell that RZA was trying to make up for his absence from other post-Wu Tang Forever projects because he not only produces three cuts but also executive-produces the album, making sure that every other producer brings that vintage 36 Chambers sound. The Beatnuts' JuJu provides "One", Carlos Bess gives us the unexpected party-starter, "Cherchez La Ghost", and Mathematics provides the hot collabo, "Buck 50". The latter features Method Man, Cappadonna, and...Redman? Who invited Redman? It don't matter because he humors us with lines like, "your w**d got more seeds than ODB/Can't smoke wit' ya". The only misstep is track 13, a freestyle over a backdrop scratching over and over again. Who told them that was dope? Also, the track listing on the back of the album (as well as on here) is totally wrong. Put the CD in your computer and have the track listing come up correctly in musicmatch or Windows Media Player. -EJR
