great, great cd: This is just a fantastic cd,from a great guitar player. This was done in probable his most creative time, with live stuff done from photo finish and others.Rory was always a cut above other guitar players. If you want to here him at his best get all his live cd`s.This cd is a must have for any fan of great guitar work,
Voice from the grave: I have been playing this CD over and over since buying it. It is great! If you like gut-wrenching guitar playing without all the studio smoothness of the polished establishment bands then this CD is for you. I once watched this guy perform from 8 PM until 4 AM straight at the Brewery in East Lansing, MI, and the same intensity that he showed there is on this CD.
Rory, The Master: This is a Must Have CD. I cannot say enough about this guy and his ability. The only negative thing I have to say, is this is a single album. From Shinkicker to Shadow Play, just turn it ALL the way up, and rock the neighborhood. Turn your friends on to Rory through this album and with one listen they will be hooked too. This guy never got his due. He mostly toured in the North East, when he came to the States. I had the opportunity to meet him on more than one occasion, and what a guy. He had a great following. I can give him the highest compliment possible, which is "He looked like he was having more fun onstage, than you were". Thanks Rory.
Rory Gallagher is great!: I saw Rory in E. Lansing also, at the State Theatre. He was about 90 minutes late getting on-stage. The crowd was pretty ... off, since our buzz was wearing off. Right before he came on-stage, the MC announced the reason for the delay. Someone stole most of his PC equipment. Anyway, Rory and his band came out, and without saying anything about the theft of his equiptment, went right into "Messin With The Kid". For the next 90 minutes we were all on out feet, cheering this tremendous guitarist, singer, and songwriter. This concert is still the best live experience I have had. If you enjoy blues-based rock you must check out Rory Gallagher. We all miss him.
Great Performances, Questionable Editing: This disc features guitar genius Rory Gallagher at his best, in a typically dynamic set featuring some of his best songs. As always, Rory and the band are in fine form. However, I must concur with the reviewer from East Glenville on one major point. There is only one basic problem with this disc, which is that poor editing has removed Rory's spoken introductions from some tracks, and on "Shadow Play" (one of Rory's best rockers), the song simply fades out, an unsatisfactory ending to a great song. It would be nice to have a restored version of this disc; both Rory and his material deserve it. Notwithstanding that, the performances here are typical of the genius of Rory Gallagher, perhaps the most underrated artist of all time
