A couple of impressive tracks, but still too weak.: Despite being a Chesky fan, I wasn't really pleased with this sampler. At only 48 minutes (I wonder why Chesky didn't offer a bit more, since they could have easily mastered an extra 30 minutes into the CD), there are few impressive performances in this sampler. The best track is definitely Dave's True Story's "Dear Miss Lucy". Excellent album. However, pretty much the rest is somewhat unimpressive. Two other exceptions might be The Coryells (Amazing sound engineering and vocals) and Rebecca Pidgeon's "Underground". Ana Caram's bossa nova rythms and perhaps Paquito D'Rivera's tracks might be great to test those high-end headphones or speakers.... that's pretty much all however... Overall, I expected much more from this sampler, both in quantity and quality.
Chesky -Audiophile Sampler .: Some will need no introduction to the American audiophile Label "Chesky Records" but for other's , this is possibly as close as you will get to having the artist drop over for your own private gig in your own lounge room without them actually been there . These recordings are first class and capture all the emotion and atmosphere of the performance on offer . But what about the music itself you may ask ? Well let me borrow a phrase used earlier.....it's all first class . From the haunting vocals of Rebecca Pidgeon to the smooth , seductive Jazz groove of Dave's True Story , this disc gives you an inviting window into some of the extremely talented Chesky Artist's . Delve into the rythmical folk/blues guitar playing and lucid vocals of the stylish Sara K , then prepare to kick back on a cold wintery , rainy night , Martini in hand captured and woven by the mood of Jon Faddis's Jazz play . Then be transported on a journey into the South Americia's with Ana Caram beautifully Lantin/Jazz vocal spirit allowing yourself to then be graced and enchanted by Carla Lother's soaring musical style . This disc offer's a great beginning point for an expedition into the many talents available on Chesky Records while at the same time allowing the faithful to get a tasty appetiser to what's new while the disc remains on it's own a great compilation to have . Highly Recommended .
