From Amazon.co.uk: Tame even by Govi's standards, Seventh Heaven is a dinner party-pleasant assortment of lightweight, flamenco-tinged instrumentals for acoustic guitar and small ensemble. A capable player and an agreeable composer, Govi has always resided at the softer end of the nouveau (read: smooth) flamenco continuum, only occasionally striking the sort of sparks associated with more ambitious players such as Jesse Cook, Oscar Lopez or Ottmar Liebert. Instead, Govi targets the easy-listening crowd and, in that context, serves up a fitting assortment of light-on-the-ear tunes that feature modest Latin and Spanish accents. Polite and cleanly played, Seventh Heaven may be a bit too gentle for some listeners, though others will find it goes very nicely with a good book and a Chardonnay. If pretty, Anglicised guitar music with a more pronounced flamenco influence is your preference, you would do well to investigate the Johannes Linstead album Kiss the Earth. --Terry Wood
Wholly Uplifting: "Seventh Heaven" is wholly uplifting. Every cut is at the same highly refined level of artistry. Govi ably conveys the complex emotions associated with Nuevo Flamenco and I listened to it over and over to the neglect of my other music.
What beautiful and soulful guitars !: Had a hard time looking for Govi's CD's here in Kuala Lumpur. I was introduced to govi when i purchased the Guitar Greats - Best Of New Flamenco. Finally caught hold of two Govi CDs (this and "Adalusian Nights") Govi's music is outstandingly intoxicating, with the beautifully written and played melodies. A totally refreshing breeze of fresh air when i listen to Seventh Heaven. Haaaaa ! (Seventh Heaven is too short though, just a near the 3/4hr. mark! 65 minutes shud be more like it. "Disappearing Into You" + "Havana Sunset" are my most loved tracks. Simply delicious! GREAT CD. Grab it today.
Demonstrates a total mastery: In Seventh Heaven, acoustical guitarist Govi once again demonstrates a total mastery of his music which blends Latin passion, Spanish romance, Gypsy energy, and the fragrant melodies of Hawaii. The ten individual pieces comprising Seventh Heaven include: Rising in Love (4:12); Disappearing into You (4:52); Mediterrano (4:44); Havana Sunset (6:48); Walking on Clouds (4:30); Language of the Heart (1:40); Gypsy Heaven (5:21); Jacaranda (5:26); Garden of Eden (2:55); and Wings of Love (5:10).
Check This Out: Govi is without doubt one our finest living composer players of all things stringed, Aptly named Seventh Heaven is another gem, ten songs without words lyrical yet complex, Latin inspired and unplugged layer upon layer of melody and mystery reward many listenings.
Beautiful guitar music from the heart!: This is one awesome guitar CD to listen to! The better your system, the more incredible it sounds (this disc is an HDCD release, and sounds 'like buttah' on an HDCD player... check out hdcd.com)! Listening to this on my pair of high-end audiophile MAGNEPLANAR speakers transports me to nylon string heaven! The arrangements here are very accomplished and satisfying, and very melodic and passionate. The level of musicianship is very apparent also given the synergy with other musicians that play on this disc. If you like Govi, you must also listen to the artists 'Strunz & Farah'. Govi and Strunz & Farah are my favorite bands in this great genre. I truly hope Govi continues to release music that is similar to 'Seventh Heaven', for he has reached his stride with this one!
