The Devil's Jingle: Whoa! If you've seen Suspiria, then you know about the insane music of Goblin that gives thefilm such a jolt. If you haven't, go and see it. If you love horror soundtracks, you have to own this. The title track is an evil little jingle that just builds and builds. According to another reviewer, the band was on serious painkillers when they made this. I don't know how true that is, but whatever they were on, they tapped into something unique. This movie needs a rerelease so you can hear the demented rock on the soundtrack in full THX sound. And that title theme, you'll be humming for days after. A total gem of a soundtrack that can't be recommended enough.
Doctor's Prescription: Buy Suspiria: Suspiria is a hidden gem in the horror world. Nothing makes a good horror film then the music. The Goblins were able to pull this off magnificently. One of the little unknown facts surrounding this group and the film soundtrack is that their short lived stage manager Scott Hoffman actually called nearby doctors and complained about fictious pains. He did this in order to get pain killer prescriptions in which he later gave to the band members of Goblin. They actually composed the soundtrack to Suspiria while they were on these pain killers. Whatever was the cause, the effect was great. This is my favorite horror soundtarck of all-time.
A Dark Fantasy Of Sounds: For those of you who have seen Dario Argento's Suspiria will know what to expect. Goblin is the progressive rock band responsible for this creative piece of music: Claudio Simonetti: keyboards, Fabio Pignatelli: bass, Massimo Morante: guitar and Agostino Marangolo: drums. They have been collaborating with Argento on a few of his films since 1975s Deep Red and each score is completely original. This beautiful soundtrack goes beyond imagination. My description would be calling it "Satan's opera" because of the atmosphere of sounds hypnotizing your subconscious mind. But Argento explains it best in one of his documentaries. "At the time, there were no music videos and that kind of strong, excessive and very powerful music was considered the father of the music video. I wanted to do this strong music because I wanted the music to also be like the voice of the actors, the actors screaming, and the music, it's like an infernal atmosphere." Haunting whispers, eerie chanting and echoes are just some of the sounds you will hear on Suspiria.
