West of Westchester: I have all of Dotsero's CD's and have seen them live at their club (Jazz at Jack's) in Denver, Colorado and they are fabulous! I've been waiting for months for "West of Westchester" to arrive and it was definitely worth the wait. Stephen Watts plays some of the most beautiful saxophone I've ever heard, it gives a person the shivers. Go out and buy a few copies - one for yourself and several for all of your friends - you won't regret it!
West Of Westchester: I currently live in the Bronx, New York. I was stationed in Colorado Springs,Co at Falcon AFB. I met the great jazz group Dotser at a place called the Dublin Down in the Springs. Ever since, I have been in love with their music. I feel they are the most underrated jazz band in the world. I once told their lead saxophonist that they should come to the "Blue Note" in New York. I know they would turn it out!! This CD is another outstanding masterpiece. All the songs remind me of driving down the Highway just before the sun goes down. The smooth musical sounds on this CD will definitely put you in world of content and happiness.
Fresh new groove.: This sounds like the Rippingtons, Spyro Gyra, and Norman Brown combined culminating in a fresh new groove. If this group can make a sound like this, I'm certainly going to find their previous efforts. It starts out with a Bob James classic which I'm surprised that this group really improved upon. From there the compositions are quite creative, but you have to listen to them individually and give each a chance to grow on you. These compositions are definitely not boring. The recording quality is excellent also. Smooth jazz seems to just keep getting better with groups like Dotsero.
Cd Review: I love this CD I have listened to Dotsero for 10-11 years and their music is great..at least to me.
"takes music to the next level": Peak Records presents - "West of Westchester", featuring the band members of Dotsero...Stephen Watts (tenor/soprano sax), Michael Friedman (fretted/fretless basses) and David Watts (electric/acoustic guitars), with their debut album. Dotsero continues in the tradition of previous works, delivering a strong blend of rock, fusion, light funk and soulful melodies with contemporary influences. This sextet recorded their first album with Nova label in the 1990s, basic hard bop with blends of fusion and strong use of electronics.
