[.ca] On Moonlight Bay/By the Light of the Silvery Moon

not her best work:
This CD is from two films with Doris Day; Moonlight Bay and By the Light of the Slivery Moon, both appropriately with "moon in the title because they are indeed moony. Basically, the only reason you will enjoy this CD is either because you like the films a lot or because you LOVE Doris Day. While Doris Day sings lesser material better than most others sing good songs, you probably should stick with her hits.

The soundtracks to two of her best musical on one CD!!:
You I'm just 16 years old and I'm smart enough to know that Doris Day is the worlds most underrated singer. This cd is her best, you get two soundtracks to her best two musical on one CD!!! You get all the Songs from Moonlight Bay, and Silver Moon. This is fun music the whole family will enjoy. It's great make out mood music too baby!!!

Great Day At The Movies:
The music on this cd is culled from two of Doris Day's best musicals. The songs range from upbeat and happy to sweetly sentimental. They lift your spirits and help you focus on the positive and beautiful sides of life. No wonder Doris was the number one box office attraction for more than ten years! We sure could use her today!

Collectables Two-Fer Reissue's.:
Collectables have reissued a number of Doris Day albums, with their two-on-one way of doing things. Like in the UK, what Sony are also doing for Doris Day. This Collectables reissue contains "On Moonlight Bay" from 1951, and "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" from 1953. Both, obviously, soundtracks from the two Doris Day movies of the same name. While in the movie of "On Moonlight Bay" you have Gordan MacRae singing some of these songs with Doris Day. Although here, the other star, Jack Smith, fills in on the duets instead for these studio recordings of songs featured in the movie (Gordan MacRae had a contract with Capitol at the time, so therefore could not appear on this Columbia release). Being the movie was set in 1917, the songs here are all from the period, except for "Love Ya", which was the only one written for the movie. These are easily some of her best early recordings. "By The Light of the Silvery Moon", the sequal to "On Moonlight Bay", is yet another take on the old songs from the World War One period. Gordon MacRae is again not present, due to reasons stated previously, and Doris Day sings these songs, again, without him. Backed by Paul Weston's orchestra and the Norman Luboff Choir. Again, another great album, and one of her best altogether. The sound quality on this reissue from Collectables, is extremely good, and really completely clear throughout. These were two rather short albums, 8 tracks on each, 16 altogether. Its a lot shorter than some of the other two-fers out there, but not a bad length really, more than 40 minutes. Comes with the usual liner notes you get with most CDs. This is essential to any CD collection.
