[.ca] Peppermint

I know it, everybody's got one. You need one too.:
Before "Underwhelmed," before being ignored by all but a few of their idiot neighbours down South (further support of the South being equated with stupidity) in Little Big Man USA, Chris, Jay, Pat, and Andrew, everyone's heroes from Halifax recorded this little gem that while more in tune with the sludge metal of the early 1990s, provided a glimpse into those lovely power pop (certainly the former, but it also is the latter) diamonds they turn out every few years on Murderecords. Picks? The whole thing, really. The version of "Underwhelmed" is from the "spin the bottle" video where Murph can't keep his eyes open. "Sugartune" is a bit heavier on the bass but sounds like "Marcus Said" sounds, pretty much like the version off "Smeared," but if I have to pick from a litter of genius that still holds up thirteen years later or so (has it been that long?) Jay's "Pretty Voice," (the song, not Jay's actual voice, though it is quite pretty, to be honest), and the duet with Jenny Pierce of Jale on "Torn," a nice punk rave-up to slam off the walls to. You probably own this already if you have a shred of taste, so go pick up another copy for a loved one. You know it's great. You know they're great. It's just a shame most of us down below the border haven't brains to blow up a goose to recognize the fact that they are. It's called Peppermint for a reason. It's sweet, intense, and very, very cool.
