Keep it simple: A Really good Nu Metal CD: I never purchase a CD without hearing the bands work, but in this case I took a chance. Someone at a Fear Factory forum said there a good Techno-Metal slightly Nu Metal band. It sounded intriguing, so I figured I would check it out. Basically I can't believe I didn't discover this band any sooner, it's been in constant rotation in my car. I consider this band in the select few of Nu Metal bands that are really good. Personally I have yet to find a song on this CD that I don't like. It's heavy, and catchy at the same time. At some points the singer sounds a little like Manson(which isn't a bad thing at all). I think it could have had some more techno beats into it, but all the songs are great. Also from what I've heard from other's Crossbreed is on works of a follow up CD to 2001's Synthetic Division. Which I will probably buy...hopefully you make the purchase as this CD is cheap to. Mine came out 12.99 including shipping!
Impressive: i've owned this album since 2001 but i am just now finally getting around to reviewing it. i was looking through my cds and found this one.. upon listening to it again not only did it bring back alot of memories of summer 2001 but it also made me remember how good these guys are. i looked at their site and relized nothing has been updated and there was no new album yet.. dissapointing because these guys are electric gods. i guess they had a ep in 99 i believe but i never got to hear it. if its anything like this cd then it must be great. its hard to classify these guys but i would classify them as industrial metal. check em out
Crossbreed Means Something!: These guys chose their name, carefully. "Crossbreed" is a definite metal mix of diverse songs. They blend many different heavy metal bands together to create this totally new, awesome band. Crossbreed combines the sound of Flaw, with the heaviness of Pantera, with the intensity from Slipknot, to the hardcore stlye of Marilyn Manson, with the roaring guitars from Rammstein, to the famililar sound of Static X. Only this time, it's done right. The little 'techno-jinlges' bring out the sound rather than annoy the heck out of you. Each song is diverse, and has a not so melodic, but powerful and agressive meaning. Still rising from the underground street scene, I anticipate the arrival of their newest album. Crossbreed is nearly flawless throughtout their music. They are the kings of a newborn (and brutal sounding!) heavy metal genre.
Whoa.: Excellent. Great. Magnificent. Mind-blowing. Uh, great. Hmmm...I love "Severed." I keep listening to it over and over. It's so awesome. Beautiful. Yeah, I'm more into the industrial part of it, for I am no longer a big metal fan, but the groove is where it's at. It feels like an early Zeppelin album combined with Joy Division and Slipknot, so yeah, it's great stuff. It kinda starts slipping after the first couple songs into the realm of generic metal, but comes back strong for a good ending. I still think "Severed" is the new "Stairway To Heaven," except it's not long enough...
Crossbreed means something.: Their name "Crossbreed" has a very descriptive meaning. They're... well a cross between heavy metal bands. Blending the sounds of Flaw, with the intensity of Slipknot to the roaring guitars of Rammstein, vocals reaching that of Static X and the heaviness from Pantera comes an incredibly skilled underground heavy metal band, Crossbreed. Each song is very diverse and while the 'techno-like' jingles bring out the sound, rather than annoy the heck out of you. Crossbreed's ability to make each song diverse and meaningful is a good sign. My personal favorite song by them is 'Seasons'. It's powerful and agressive tone sets it for one of the heaviest songs on the album. Overall grade for Cross breed 9.5 / 10.0 Nothing is perfect, but Crossbreed cuts it very, very close! I highly reccomend this album to you if you like bands such as Superjoint Ritual, Pantera, and Flaw.
