beautiful, but slightly flawed: Well, who are these guys? The chances of hearing them on the radio or seeing them on MTV are very small, despite being on the Sony label. Who are Stereomud? They're an example of new metal done very well. With beautiful melodic singing, rough riffs that make surprisingly clever changes, and powerful lyrics that deal with issues of self-discovery and self-knowledge, Stereomud are a paragon of musical ability. Sure, they sound similar to some other bands like Drowning Pool, but that is something unavoidable no matter whatv genre you listen to (I listen to death and black metal, where the similarities are even more apparent). One real problem is that the CD is a bit to long. It's not the untitled trance tracks. It's just that it seems Stereomud would have done better to release these songs as two EPs rather than as a 23-track LP. Otherwise, it's a very moving and powerful album. "Hope comes when I don't even want it" Love that line!
Sevendust Jr.: This lead singer must sit by his stereo studying Lajon of Sevendust's vocals cause the similarities are eerie at times. Still this is a great album (especially considering I only got it for 3 bucks {used}). If you like Sevendust, chances are you'll like Stereomud. Great driving album.
Perfect Self is Perfect: I picked this cd up at a store because it was only 9 bucks, I thought it'd be a good cd to waste some time with until the cd's I awaited came out but Stereomud sure did prove me wrong. This cd is awesome! I couldn't take this cd out of my player for like a month, this cd was crafted beautifully with all of the untitled tracks leading up to the amazing finish "Perfect Self" and it has a tremendous opener in "Leave". Pain is the radio single and is an awesome song as well. My personal fav is "Lost Your Faith" which is probably the bands heaviest song on the cd... bottom line all the songs are my favorite and I'd have to give this c.d props over their recently released album, everybody should check it out!
No Mud here!: This is a VERY good CD. On 1st listen, I liked half of the songs, but after a couple more listens, I felt there were no holes in it. I even came to like the little interludes between some of the songs.. it kinds of keeps a pace going for whats up next.. but then again, maybe not :^)
Good stuff: These guys are talented songwriters here. Although they do sound a lot like some of the other mainstream stuff out there I still have to like them. The stand out tracks are "don't be afraid" and of course the title track "perfect self".
