From Amazon.com: Summer Catch is another teen-romance soundtrack tie-in, with seemingly everyone but star Freddie Prinze Jr. on board. (Why not? He didn't embarrass himself on The Brak Album.) Various flavors of pop are the thing, from Semisonic and Fastball tracks that could get them back on the radio to the sexy Vitamin C-like strut of Touch & Go's "Straight to... Number One." The quality is mostly high, apart from dull cuts by boy-group Youngstown, lite-rockers Nine Days, and singer-songwriter Dylan O'Brian. Nothing fully captures the dazzle of under-20 love (or lust), though energy flies off Dandy Warhols' fabulous Stones rip "Bohemian Like You" and Uncle Kracker gets wittier than boss Kid Rock on his Michael Stipe-goes-swamp-rock "Mr. Hawkins." Finally, with "Skin," Collective Soul knock off another set of those hooks that end up catching even nonfans. --Rickey Wright
No score at all: What??????? Not even one song of score by Geroge Fenton? Songs are okay, sometimes. But we would like music that is actually from the movie, not inspired by. Not worth getting if you are looking for score music.
Music that fits the vibe!: Well, the music is just as good as the movie. The opening song in the movie, "Sweet Summer" by Radford, makes you feel the vibe of the movie. The setting, the plot, the whole nine. "Wild, Blue Night" is a very surprising ballad. Very melodic, and....well....good. I don't think me writing a review about this will help anybody, because the soundtrack speaks for itself. When you hear the album, you feel the movie. Plain and simple. Not a huge fan of Sum 41, but their best single "Makes No Difference" adds to the mischief of the film. You know what, finish reading this review, and go listen to the album. The music will speak louder than my words.
Great music for a great movie!: This CD has great music for that perfect summer soundtrack. It was a great movie with a great soundtrack. Granted it doesn't have score music, but it has all the best songs from the movie. I really enjoy "Sweet Summer", "Skin", and "Over My Head". Lots of these songs have never been released before. It's a great upbeat CD and a must have for anyone who enjoyed this movie as much as I did! :)
Buy the soundtrack...AVOID THE MOVIE!: First of all I have to question the previous reviewer by asking, WHO IS LOOKING FOR THE SCORE OF THIS MOVIE?!?! This is a great compilation of todays hotest rock acts. Semisonic is fantastic.
