From Amazon.co.uk: Brian McKnight still works his patented platinum mid-tempo grooves on his sixth album Superhero. But here he turns the beat around a bit and mixes it up with some new partners. For strange bedfellows, check out "My Kind of Girl," a collaboration with Justin Timberlake. The teaming of the Prince of Pimple Pop and the veteran R & B star is a head-scratcher on paper, but it sure sounds sweet as they wrap their voices around a gentle acoustic-tinged track that floats with effortless ease. McKnight, who handles most production, writing, and instrumental chores, rocks out on the title track and throws down with Nate Dogg on the pulsating "Don't Know Where to Start." It all proves that McKnight can create make-out music for housewives and homeboys alike. --Amy Linden
sounds smooth: Love the different song arrangements. The man is talented gotta admit it.
This cd grew on me: I remember when I first picked up this album I didn't think much of it. After listening to it a couple times it really started to get into my head. This cd has a good mix of fast tunes (Groovin tonight, Don't know where to start) and vintage Brian mcknight ballads (Still, Everything). His collaborations with Justin T, the St. Lunatics, and Nate Dogg were all really well done and are sure to get you up and dancing. My kinda girl, Love of my life, Everything, and Biggest part of me were my favourite songs on this cd. It may take a few listens but this cd is full of great songs.
It's OK: I like Brian, but honestly, this album wasn't really doing it for me. Maybe my expectations were so high after Back At One, but how can you beat that album? The only good songs were "Love of My Life", "Still", "My Kind of Girl" with Justin from *NSYNC (even though it would have been wiser to team up with J.C., the better singer). The rest of the songs were either lackluster or didn't grow on me yet. But I would still listen to this album over Anytime anytime.
Brian McKnight - Remixed by Thunderpuss!: I used to hate Brian McKnight until I heard the dynamite Thunderpuss remix of his single "Still." Bursting with tons of energy, the remix is very danceable and has major crossover potential. Hey, Brian: drop the gooey ballads. Your true calling is disco! Again, Chris Cox and Barry Harris have made a boring singer interesting by remixing one of his songs! Bravo!
A good release for Mr McKnight: his release is a step back i believe for Mr McKnight. Some songs are appealing while others aren't too shabby. notable tracks: -Superhero Prelude: okay its only an intro, but i liked it. Orchestration that builds up the suspense. -What's It Gonna Be - Good jazzy intro that leads to good chorus -Superhero - haha! now this is really really different song from most Brian McKnight songs.Strangly enough i found it pretty good -still - a good ballad with good piano chords, what you'd expect on any Brian Mcknight album - Biggest part of me - another good ballad to listen to. -When Will I See you Again - Sad, dark ballad (ft Bebe Winans?) One Of my favourites -For you - short song but it's pretty good, easy on the eardrum! As an overall album, it lacks in some ways, but as a long time fan it was good see him release an album with good ballads as usual! :) The dance tracks Don't know where to start, Groovin Tongiht and Superhero (even though i liked it) seem to be out of place. It's album that any Brian mcknight fan would want.
