This Album Rocks!:
I have to admit, up until a week ago, I had no idea who Toby Mac was. I went to Lifest, a Christian music festival in Oshkosh, WI and he was one of the first acts. His concert was my favorite of the four days, and I purcahsed his CD right there and then-and it was a good investment. This album has all the infectious and awesome energy of other artists I know, but the message is just so powerful and fresh that it's a great combination to listen to. I wasn't ever a really big fan of rock or hip-hop/rap, but this album is awesome. I haven't stopped listening to it since I bought it!

good music:
a great cd by the point that this is still godly music but has a feel for todays kind

NOT SO MOMENTOUS:
O.K..O.K dC TALK DISCIPLES MIGHT NOT LIKE THIS BUT TOBY COULD HAVE DONE BETTER..(FUNNY ENOUGH,IAM ALSO A DCT FAN) HERE IS A GUY WHO FRONTED ONE OF THE MOST IMPRESSIVE BANDS IN CCM,PRODUCED AND WROTE SOME STELLAR MATERIAL,YET DEBUTS SOLO WITH ...WELL, LETS CALL IT A LET DOWN.ALL the more frustrating when u know what this guy is capable of.... i understand he wants some crossover appeal.but the single,"extreme days" sounds like mindless pandering.the whole kid rockish,nu metal aesthetic gets boring after a while.songs like whats going down, lets get the party started are a joke. okay for christian preteens and fans. when he stretches creatively on songs like j train, you wish he'll dish out more on this level.. Dont want to sound like a wet blanket but i am amzed out how reviewers just heap 5 stars on this..this is a fun record and it should be appreciated on that level alone..enjoy the high points, its quirky, funny and harmless..Not the second coming.Toby should be commended for the effort though.(he does put UP A hell of a live show too) For ur info,i cant sing, play any instrument or write songs,i just have big ears....i respect talent and i said the forgoing with the utmost respect for Toby..hope he blows us away next time around. Personally, i think KEVIN MAX'S ALBUM WAS THE STANDOUT OF THE DCT SOLOS...though he has been criticized for aping his influences(who does'nt?), he dared to go where no ccm "affiliated" artist would.

Five for Toby, Four for the CD:
Toby Mac is definitly the best CCM artist out there. Anyone who has seen him in concert (I've been lucky enough to see him three times) knows that he is an amazing performer. His stage presence, improv, professions of faith, and connection with the audience are insane! Extreme Days has always been a favorite song of mine, but it wasn't until I saw him perform this year at Alive Festival that I started appreciating his other song. My only problem is that Toby's infectious energy isn't captured on the CD like it is live. His concerts will blow you away... and although he CD still rocks, it just isn't quite the same. Anyways... it's still my favorite CCM CD, and I suggest it to everyone. Some other great suggestions: Audio Adrenaline (especially Hit Parade), Switchfoot (The Beautiful Letdown), Kirk Franklin, and The David Crowder Band.

Better Off Alone:
I must say that between the ex-dcTalksters, Toby McKeehan(Mac) has definately got the best fresh solo album out now. Kevin Max and Michael Tait just didn't quite cut it in my book. Toby Mac combines many aspects of music into this album that seemed kind of..... limited in days of dcTalk yore. The album has a combination of hard rock beats, hip hop twists, and reverberating sound-effects that really kick-it-up a notch. Kickin' it off with "Get This Party Started" was a sweet opening to the album as it loosens the listener up to what the rest of the album has to offer. Moving on to "Irene", this song deals with the life of a young girl who is just seeking a friend and finds it in God...... like many of us try to do. "Momentum" tells of Jesus' ever present spirit and reign among us as a Christian populas plus it adds many up-beat musical tunes on this track. With songs like "Yours" and "Somebody's Watching" (an awesome remake to Rockwell's 1984 hit), Toby Mac presents the message of God's compassion to us and how we should respond. "Wonderin' Why" actually answers a lot of questions as to why dcTalk split up, surprisingly. This song is for those who are anxious to learn as to why the break up occured. "Extreme Days" is a cry to both the world and to God as Toby Mac goes all out on this song (the one generally what most people buy the album for). I strongly suggest "Momentum" if you're into 'headbangin' hip-hop'........... or something like that.
