[.ca] Batman: The Animated Series - The Legend Begins

From Amazon.com:
Taking a cue from the caped crusader's comic book rebirth in Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One, this 1992 animated series saved the TV Batman from a fate worse than camp and drew an unexpected audience for an afternoon cartoon: adults. The initial five episodes gathered here feature such supervillains as Man-bat, the Scarecrow, and Poison Ivy, but the deliciously demented Joker (voiced by Mark Hamill) steals the show in his two appearances, especially in the twisted "Christmas with the Joke." Escaping Arkham Asylum in a rocket-powered Christmas tree, the clown prince of crime preempts a TV showing of It's a Wonderful Life with his own homicidal holiday treat. It's a solid start to a sleek, stylized, smartly written series that only improved with time. Ages 7 and up. --Sean Axmaker

the dark knight forever:
well let me put it like this batman has always been a favorite of mine even when bob kane started batman in 1939 we had and insight to what it was all about i think that we all have a little darkness in us but this movie gives mr kane a thumbs up on his creation it also gives a story on how bruce wayne became batman and mark hamill is especially demented as the joker so my review is thumbs up

Wonderful for Older Kids:
Great animation, great stories, wonderful villians. This Batman series show the Dark Knight at his best. Batman's endless arsenal of nifty gadgets fascinated my kids. My younger son is four and he was frightened by some of the stories. The episode featuring the Joker especially disturbed him. The Joker is a brilliant villian, but a bit cold and definitely without a conscience. I recommend this movie for older children and adults. My favorite episode was the one with the Scarecrow. When Batman gets sprayed with Scarecrow's gas and faces his deepest fear, we are able to glimpse a human side of the Caped Crusader that he rarely reveals.

The best animated T.V show ever made by warner bros:
Batman is the greatest animated show still running out there with other great classics like batman beyond or batman and robin. You can relive the gotham scene and atmosphere of a great saga of gothams finest Dark Knight. This DVD edition is great to your collection of other titles that have made it big like batman. Great episodes, great storylines and great charecters, what more to say. 10/10.

The Dark Secret of Gotham City:
The landmark animated adventures of DC Comics' caped crime-fighter has arrived on DVD with "Batman: The Animated Series - The Legend Begins". The award-winning animated series is definitely the best comic book adaptation of the famous DC Comics character. This popular series features solid episode storylines, well developed characters, great voice acting, amusing action and a rich music score. Its gothic animation style and dark adult-like tone changed the view of Saturday morning cartoons. The DVD contains five great episodes: "On Leather Wings", "Christmas with the Joker", "Nothing to Fear", "The Last Laugh" and "Pretty Poison". The episodes are presented in their original full screen format. The DVD contains a fine video transfer with some bits of grain and dusts, and a good 2.0 Dolby Digital sound. It also includes a short animation featurette and episodes introductions by producer Bruce Timm. "Batman: The Legend Begins" is a must-have DVD for any fan of this great animated series, and scores a worthy "B-".

The Dark Knight begins here...:
Batman: The Animated Series came out while I was in college, which gave me lots of time to watch it. This DVD includes the first five episodes, with such greats as the Joker, Scarecrow and Poison Ivy. Lets face it, "Christmas with The Joker" might be old when compared to the newer episodes, but it is a classic. The best part is the series can draw on the vast background and the large selection of characters from the comic books and other sources. This would allow the series to develop story arches, use its own history and even shoot out a few full-length movies. The DVD has great extras, such as how to draw Batman, conversations with Director Bruce Timm about each episode and a 'Life on the Edge Game'. Even the DVD menus are cool. Good for any fan of the Batman!
