[.ca] Slow Motion

Chronique amazon.fr:

Weakest Of Them All:
I like Supertramp from Crime of The Century to Slow Motion , but as it is , there are the highs and the lows of a band , and Slow Motion , 2 me , like Breakfast in America , is a weak recording . Brother and Some Things are stronger and that's my preference . So B it . I will wait for the next one , where Hogson will Reunite with Davies . Mark my words , it's comming .

Supertramp without....:
Roger Hodgson (Vocal, Guitar) will never be the same band. But this (the bands 4th studio effort without Hodgson)is an improvement over the last studio efforts. Basically if your a fan of Rick Davies style with Supertramp then you'll buy it. The title track is the best of the bunch. Rick showing his love for the bluesy/jazzy songwriting he has stamped into the Supertramp sound. But yes Roger come back. The chemistry between Rick and Roger made those albums. Start with Breakfast in America or a compilation of hits.

Give Them a Break:
The seventies are gone, and so is Roger Hudgson. How demanding can we be with present-day Supertramp? This album is certainly no Fool's Oberture, nor it compares to anything on Crime Of The Century, but I think it stands on itself. The musicianship is solid, some compositions are a little weak, but the overall result is satisfying. Not a 5 star album, but not pure garbage either. All Supertramp fans would kill for a Davies-Hudgson reunion, but until that happens, let's enjoy their later output without comparing too hard to their glory days.

A different path:
Supertramp, without Roger, exists because Rick wants to continue. HE IS THE BAND. I really like the direction. I hear that same great keyboard sound and Rick's voice. The vibe has matured and taken on more of his character. I wish Roger would return, but that's not going to happen. As for the tour, I'll be first to get my tickets.

3 tramps...3 stars:
Nice tones. Good music. highlights are davie's on the keys. and Helliwells sax. Rick, John, and Bobs' sidemen are great musicians. the longer songs are jams. tramp fans will enjoy parts.
