[.ca] In The Arms Of Love Lullabies

From Amazon.com:
In this disc's press notes, guitarist Ottmar Liebert explains that he created In the Arms of Love as an antidote to both a clamorous world and its accompanying music. The latter, he finds, "is not always very nice." He also notes that selections found on this recording (subtitle: Lullabies 4 Children and Adults) will likely never be performed in concert. "I might fall asleep, too," he says, "and what then?" Give Liebert high marks for candor and a modest grade for the slow-go music on In the Arms of Love. The disc's 13 tracks (66 minutes' worth) are solo guitar selections for grown-ups (with minimal embellishments) that elicit a tempo-free state of reflection and calm, though some listeners may find the music's repetitive inclinations and occasional plaintive digressions less than rapturous. But approach this disc with a sleepyhead's fading attentiveness, and several of Liebert's blown kisses, such as "Querencia," "Sea of Tranquility," "Ode 2 the Morning Star" and "A Secret Garden," can blossom into dreamy delights. Anyone seeking serious nod-out music might want to consider a vintage electronic gem, And the Stars Go with You from keyboardist Jonn Serrie. --Terry Wood

very relaxing yet frustrating album:
I have to admit that when i first bought this album it relaxed me and put me to sleep. His smooth soft guitar playing was very enjoyable. I do have to say though the synthesizers in the backround were very annoying. Ottmar, next time just play the guitar without all the backround music. Also, the very last track was so repetitive, He plays the same notes over and over again which drove me up the wall and just when you think the song is over he plays the same Goddam notes over and over again. If you're a true Liebert fan don't buy this album it's a waste of money.

tension tamer:
Ottmar's new CD 'In the Arms of Love' is different from all his other CD's, will make a pleasant addition to your collectiona. It's a real tension tamer, and is refreshingly soothing with soft tones derived from nature which at times produce effect of dew drops falling on rose petals and other times sound of waves chasing each other in the wilderness of an ocean.

Hauntingly beautiful:
There is a simple but exceedingly accurate phrase to describe Ottmar Liebert's In The Arms Of Love: Lullabies 4 Children + Adults -- "hauntingly beautiful". Liebert's performance and artistic vision showcase thirteen original compositions of classical guitar in celebration of the complex simplicity of the lullaby. The compositions comprising In The Arms Of Love: Lullabies 4 Children + Adults include Sea of Tranquility (6:40); When I Close My Eyes (3:16); Dreaming on the Starlight Train (5:26); Ode 2 the Morning Star (6:32); Twilight Rain (5:43); Duerencia (2:13); A Secret Garden (4:15); Caminar Solo: Walking Alone (4:04); Quiet Dawn (3:48); Soft Blue Spiral: The Lull of Falling Waters (4:10); The Music Box: Dreaming Next 2 U (6:32); Waves of Sound (7:06); and the title piece, In The Arms of Love (6:48). Total Running Time: (66:33)
