Amazon.ca Product Description: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Racoonus puts the player in the role of a raccoon named Sly Cooper. On Sly's eighth birthday, he is given the Thievius Raccoonus, an instruction manual passed down through the Cooper family for generations on how to be a great thief. But ruthless villains bust in and steal the manual, split it amongst themselves, and then vanish. Sly, along with his two friends Bentley and Murray, must embark on a platform adventure to recover the pages of the book and prove to the world that Sly Cooper is the world's greatest thief. Different skills, such as stealth tactics and platform jumping, are required throughout the game. You'll also pilot vehicles, play minigames, and fight bosses as you proceed.
best thievery game ever: This game is cool.you get to go all over the world with your two best pals, bently and murray. You get to break into peoples houses, dodge lasers, steal stuff.and get back pages of the thievius raccoonus. You be fighting five members of the fiendish five.sir raliegh on the isle of wrath, mugshot in mesa city,mz ruby in haiti, the panda king in china, and clockwerk in russia,i think.this is a great game, buy it.
Refreshing: As a huge fan of first person shooters i found this an excellent game for a refreshing change of pace. Any fan of platform adventure games should enjoy this one. Very pretty graphics fast paced and humorous. If you enjoy the likes of Crash Bandicoot your sure to love this one.
Decent Platformer: I made one major mistake, I played Sly 2 before and was hoping for a few more and different missions. What I didn't realize is the different game mechanics. The most annoying problem is punishment by instant death, and this can happen from simple slipping to a hit by an enemy. While you can manage through the most parts somehow, the boss fights will be the peak of your frustration since the simplest hit you take makes you drop dead and start all over again. Still enjoyable if you like the franchise, but again, a fairly simple an short platforming experience. With a bit of patience you can beat the game, but these days I wouldn't bother with it since Sly 2 (and at the time of writing Sly 3) is out there. In fact, you pay about 5 bucks more over Sly 2, so unless your nuts like me you and have extra time to kill, you shouldn't bother.
A+: Fun game. I really enjoyed this one. It's not to difficult if you don't collect everything. It's up to you.
A fun platformer with both a new and classic feel.: Sly Cooper does a good job at everything it brings to the table. It has a somewhat film noire / 70's spy movie mix flavour to it in both look and sound. You play Sly, a raccoon thief who has to infiltrate the layers of master crooks and steal back the pieces of a family treasure. Standard platforming rules apply; There's lots of running, jumping, dodging and collecting items. This brings a classic platforming feel to the game, in addition to some other items. For the most part you have one weapon: your staff. There's a one-hit-death! No health bar for the nocturnal hero, which adds some challenge to the levels. Luckily many of your foes suffer from the same drawback. You can collect lucky horseshoes, and for each one you collect you can get hit one more time before you die. Of course if you do die, you go back to zero horseshoes, and must recollect them. In addition to the familiar platforming elements, you come across various mini-game levels. These include providing cover fire for allies, zooming around a swamp on a hydroplane, collecting chickens, and more! As you progress, you gain new master-thief moves to improve your stealthy-ness. Being able to move undetected is a big element to the game, although not always necessary. The biggest inconsistency is with the theme of Sly. He's supposed to be a thief, but all you really steal in the game are keys. The length of the game is satisfying to me, however avid game players may find it a bit short. There's some good challenge, tense moments, and a few frustrating ones as well. Luckily those don't last to one. Sly Cooper: ATTR was a good start to a great franchise.
