thumbs up!: This film is very technical in nature and doesnt touch on the humanistic aspects of the disaster too much, but its interesting. If you`re interested in how things are designed and built, you will enjoy this presentation. The fact that the towers stood as long as they did after such a devastating impact is testament to the men that used such foresight and innovation to design them.
Don't waste your time with this one!!: (Full disclosure: I was an NYPD officer that day, lost two NYPD buddies and my brother-in-law) Did not find this terribly informative and actually quite boring. In lieu of this DVD I would HIGHLY recommend the "A & E- Investigative Reports" version, if it ever becomes available.
Accurate and Articulate: As a person who spent his days and nights living in the shadows of this city and its beauty I watched every second of film and every moment of new footage as the crisis unfolded before me. Nova presents an extremely accurate and thoughtfully delicate analysis of the collapse of the two towers. Their thoroughness was appreciated and this presentation extremely tactful and tasteful.
Official version, sounds great, MAKES NO SENSE!!!: This documentary is highly technical, and is one of the first attempts by the main stream media to explain the notion that these two structures could come down as easily as they did, and in the precise manner that they did. The documentary does not focus on any of the humanistic aspects of the horrific event, and gives a sterile portrayal in an investigative, C.S.I., murder mystery style into 'Why the Towers Fell.' It is a theory, using CG to propose the hypothesis that the asbestos was shaken off by the trauma of the impact from the plane, and with the fire proofing gone, the rivets melted down, causing the beams to collapse, and ultimately the towers. But it lacks any of the eye witness evidence. Not only does it not interview the human personnel that witnessed the event, but it does not show footage of the aftermath, the wreckage, the physical evidence. It also ignores the FACT that the temperature which steel melts is higher than the temperature that jet fuel burns, so the rivets could not have melted, it is a scientific impossibility. It could not have happened this way, and to say that this is 'Why the Towers Fell' is a disservice to our intelligence. The architect even admits that the towers were built to withstand more than one impact from a jet airplane. The list continues, but please judge for yourself. Only don't purchase this dvd, check it out from the library for free, and then spend your money on something else more informative, something sanctioned by the firefighters there, ot the families of slain police officers who've been given the run around by the officials, or something like Iraq for Sale: the war profiteers, a film that shows how the tax payers money is being spent in the war that resulted from the towers fall.
Excellent technical.: This is a very nice "emotion-less" documentary. After the tragedy, media overflew us with emotional info, and sincerely, I did not turn the TV on for a while. I was pregnant, and just thinking of all the kids who lost their parents made me sick. This documentary helped me to have another view on the events. Very technical, it doesn't forget the value of each life, but focus on what could be (could have been/should have been) done to avoid such tragedy. After viewing it, you can view another doc, such as the report by the 2 french brothers, and then, you can focus on the emotions, because your mind can "understand" the technical.
