moe. live: this three disc live show is one of the better moe. recordings. dither left me slightly disappointed. i thought (L) would be moe. at their best, but warts and all vol. 2 blows (L) out of the water. jammed out songs like kids and mexico make this disc worth buying. words cant accurately describe the musical chemistry between the members of moe.; one must listen and absorb the music with a clear and open mind. probably the most talented guitarists in the jam band scene today, al schnier and chuck garvey absolutly shred on every disc in this set. the soloing and jamming between the musicians are unbelievable and very intense at times. one almost doesn't realize that there are, in fact, humans playing the instruments being heard. another highlight is vinnie amicos fantastic drumming, some of the best grooves ever laid down on a live CD. all in all a bang up job done by moe., and hopefully a volume 3 from the warts and all series will hit stores soon. lets hope volume 3 is as good as this. peace.
moe. is truly a great improv band: I'll make this brief. I've enjoyed the sounds of moe. for about four years now and when it comes to live bands I have to say that these guys are pretty much the best in the business and this is truly a testament to that. I've listened to several moe. shows because of my recent intoduction into the tape trading world and I think, with the exception of a Halloween show (they covered the Dark Side of the Moon), this is the best live concert I've listened to from them. Its filled with really groovin' jams and some just all around fun to listen to songs. You should check it out, you won't be disappointed.
great concert: this warts and all is much better than warts and all volume one..the highlights include a 25 minute version of Kids, a very good timmy tucker and some other extended jams which were good as hell
Great album: This is a great showing of what moe. is like in concert, but the best part by far is the filler after fire(the last track). The filler on this cd is an amazing Spine of a Dog>Buster. It is without a doubt one of the greatest jams every recorded. There is so much energy it blows my mind. You should buy the cd just for that one track.
A great CD from an under-rated band.: I've seen moe. more times than I can count. I saw them multiple times when they opened the traveling post-Dead festival a few years back. I've also seen them in the tiny clubs of Tucson, as well as at the larger venues, such as the Rialto Theatre. moe. is definitely a band that needs to be seen live, and this is an excellent show. I complained about Warts and All #1 because it was a sub-par moe. show. This is much more typical and is just killer. The first I ever heard of moe. was when I bought Loaf on impulse through the old Relix magazine. It's taken from a couple of Wetlands shows, and is sadly out of print. (I'll burn copies if you send me the blank and postage.) I managed to snag a couple of copies of Meat, the 45-minute in-the-studio jam that was used to promote the band, and since then I've owned everything by the guys, even L 3.1, which you must have if you buy the live "L" CD. Warts and All Volume II will not disappoint, other than the fact that some songs are beginning to get a wee bit old because they've been on like every live moe. CD. Some more new music would help. moe.'s studio albums have beat the jam-band curse by actually being GOOD. (It seems so many jam bands are great live, but crash and burn when it comes to the studio...) Unfortunately, a lot of their studio tracks never make it onto a live CD, and a Warts and All 3 with more "new" tunes would be great. Overall, though, this is a bargain -- a decent price for 3 CDs and great music on all 3 discs!
