[.ca] Power In Numbers

Chronique amazon.fr:
Luc Demont

From Amazon.com:
Two years after Jurassic 5's debut album, Quality Control, proved that B-boy-oriented retro-rap doesn't have to be corny, the six-member crew (four MCs and two DJs) seems to be gearing up for the revolution. While fans of Quality Control's bright sound will still find much to enjoy here, J5's sophomore offering does a good job at extending their sound. Opening with "Freedom," a quiet yet focused call to action, Power in Numbers presents a slightly darker vision of hip-hop nirvana than the group offered first time around. In keeping with the album's title, J5 has also expanded its crew--Percy P. (of the early-90s underground group, Double XX Posse) and Big Daddy Kane help wreck the G Rap-esque "A Day at the Races," and the always game alterna-diva, Nelly Furtado, lends a surprisingly effective pop edge to the bouncy "Thin Line." On the production end of things, Juju of the Beatnuts adds his special blend of Colombian madness to the jazzy "If You Only Knew" and the considerably bleaker "One of Them." --Rebecca Levine

my story:
Jurassic 5's Power in Numbers is one of the greatest album of all time. Next to their debut album Quality Control, they are really good. Thumbs up for Jurassic 5(Marc 7, Cut Chemist, Zaakir, Nu-Mark, Akil, and the other guy.) I really hope they relase a new album really soon.

Not much of a hip hop fan...:
but I love these guys. I stumbled across them via Ozomatli; a couple of the guys did some work on one of the Ozomatli's albums. This album just grabs you from the word go... awesome grooves and excellent lyrics. Can't wait to get my hands on Quality Control.

My favorite CD!:
There is nothing much to say about the album. It's the best ever! Some of the best songs "A Day at the Races", "Freedom", "Hey", "One of Them", "High Fidelity", "Clear", and "I Am Somebody". With just hearing one song by Jurassic 5, you can absolutely love their music. I heard "A Day at the Races" on Tony Hawk's Underground and I started becoming obsessed with J5. Many of the songs on this album use percussion instruments for the beat...or at least sound like it to me. - Raven-Symone Paradise

Music Pa-Pa-Power: The Outstanding Force of J5:
When it comes to hip-hop, J5 knows it best. With their sophmore effort/masterpiece "Power in Numbers", Soup, Chali, Nu-Mark, Akil, Cut-Chemist, and Marc 7 are comin at you harder and with a more matture feel than from what you heard on "Quality Control". The samples are catchier, the beats are thumping, but above all, the lyrics are smoother. "Freedom" and "If You Only Knew" have a oppression-defeated/political-lyrical feel, while "Break" and "A Day at the Races" come at you with incredibley uplifting beats and catchy tounge twisting raps. I know hip hop well, and I would consider this one of the best albums in hip hop thus far. If you loved Quality Control you will ADORE this album. I've had it for almost two years now; ain't sick of one track. You will not regret this album. Take my word for it. You will love it. I can only imagine what J5 will come up with next. -Randa

Jurass skips the sophmore jinx...:
An incredible album. Avoids the stigma of being hip-POP and selling out while producing a record that anyone can, and should, enjoy. Track 6 (A Day At the Races) is one of my favourite songs of all time!!!
