My least favourite Ron Sexsmith album: Ron Sexsmith is one of the few honest singer/song writers in music today, so it was a bit disappointing to hear his amazing compositions masked by overdone and flashy production on his newest release. His song writing is still as honest and imaginative as before, but his music suffers in songs like "Dragonfly on Bay Street", where it sounds like he's singing a 70's disco song. Martin Terefe's production does slow down a bit on songs like "Gold in Them Hills", "These Days" and "The Less I Know". Ron's music and voice can again take centre stage and pull the listener into another world. The second disc of this CD features Ron's very first album and it's a treat to listen to, but for die-hard fans only. I don't think "Cobblestone Runway" is a bad CD. In fact, it's a good effort but not among my favourite Ron Sexsmith albums.
