its great! The only CD for guys who like seamen.: This CD is great. Most modern artists only give you like 12 tracks, but this album has 84! Buy this album, buy this album now.
The two C.D.s are top notch . Not what I expected.: Sea Shanties 1 & 2 Cat # PS 65150 and PS 65014, are rarely found in the local music stores, here in Baltimore. No one seems to know what a sea shanty is and Baltimore is a large and very old sea port! What surprised me right off is that all songs are sung in ENGLISH by Aussies from down under. The songs are sung excellently. You can understand all of the dialog....Good Show and all of that. Jim Carl-Oberstlt@bcpl.net
Sets the standard: I received a copy of a French-made CD of the New Zealand group, "The Spirit Boys," as a gift a few years ago. This is definitely the same collection (some of the songs were written by Rudy Sunde). Don't know why the name isn't on the case. I've collected several other CDs by others since, but none can compare - this one sets the standard. They generally have an unpolished sound that I imagine is far more authentic than others and their enthusiasm is infectious. You'll be singing along with them. Rudy and his friends released another CD in New Zealand a couple years ago, "Hurrah for Our Captain!", which I've not been able to lay hands on here in the US. I'm ordering Volume 2 in hopes that they are one and the same.
