From Amazon.com: Bob discovers that construction crews and wildlife often work at cross purposes when his to-do list is suddenly flooded by projects involving protected species and animals that destroy crops or cause allergic reactions in his clients. Faced with bats in the attic, stir-crazy pigeons, newborn otters, thirsty badgers, and an overly talkative parrot, Bob, Wendy, and the whole construction crew work together to preserve the well being of the animals while accomplishing the goals of their human clients. Along the way, the construction crew and young viewers learn the value of creative problem-solving and protecting wildlife while encountering concepts like camouflage and instinctual behavior. New episodes, but default language is French?!: My 4 year old loved seeing the new episodes on this DVD. New characters (Trix, Molly) were a nice surprise. A couple complaints though: Default language on the DVD is French! Each time we play it we have to first go into the menu to switch to English. Maybe I got the wrong version of the DVD? And there is no easy way to get right to the Bob the Builder episodes... we have to sit through the Wiggles and other preview stuff first.
Great video: I'm not too sure what the other reviews are all about on this video, but it's just great. My little one just loves watching all the stories. My only complaint is that I wish they would get different voices for some of the characters like Trixie. They just sound so whiney and they can get on a parents' nerves! The story of the equipment moving someone from their home is really cute and well done. Lofty carries a couch through the air which makes for some interesting comments from the neighbors. This one doesn't have so much of the man-bashing incidences like some of the other Bob videos. Some of them should have been called "Wendy, the Builder." I'm not sure what HIT entertainment is trying to teach our young boys with this message, but I do think it's time to stop it. This is a great idea and I hope that they proceed with more positive messages.
French Language Update: Just to update my previous review. This past weekend I received a new version of the Building Friendships DVD from HIT Entertainment. The new version has English as the default language and all the commericials that were at the beginning of the previous DVD have been moved to the end. An excellent version of Building Friendships.
French Language Default and too many advertisements: The DVD is not bad. My 22 month old son likes it a lot. The problem is going to be with the parents. First of all, the DVD default language is in French, so you will most likely have to stop the DVD and switch it to English. I've tried contacting the DVD makers, but have not gotten a response yet. The second irrating problem is that there are a lot of advertisements for different TV shows before the Bob the Builder program begins. I have to fast forward the DVD to Chapter 7 to get to Bob (Note: The French Language version has no advertisments at the beginning.) If the makers can issue a version that has English as a default language and no advertisements at the beginning, then they will have a winner. The DVD as it is now is not building any friendships.
Bill like Bob.: My 29 year old brother LOVED IT when i bought it for his b-day. He was so ecstatic he gave me a giant bear hug =). Who wouldnt like bob. i mean he helps the community with his bulldozer. Better than lizzie mcguire. Keep lizzie mcguire away from children under 18. Shes SO FAT! Shed break a big daddy bike one her first try.
