Unbelieveable: This is some of the most original drum'n'bass I've ever come across. I have been listening to the album over and over... Not only is it original, but the production is amazing, it's got soul, and many songs are recorded with an orchestra, which makes for some really interesting d'n'b. Tony Colman has put together an amazing group that makes for a great combo. Jungle drummer produces sharp cymbals and deep bass hits in tight beats. The vocals of Robert Owens and Liane Carrol are soulful and original. Another incredible thing about London Elektricity is that they have a live act... I can't imagine how awesome it would be to see them live. I think it certainly makes a difference for electronic music when a group of people are involved in making it. That combined with Tony Colman's musical genius are what make LE so incredible.
Mundane Elektricity: ok, I bought this CD, and I'm happy I did for one reason. Actually 5 reasons, and they are: Tracks 01, 03, 05, 06, & 08. The rest of the tracks are honestly the worst songs I have ever heard. And it's not only the fact that the rest of the tracks contain vocals. I like singing as much as the next guy, but honestly, these vocals make me want to vomit all over my speakers. As I listen to this album, I have to quickly jump on the track skip button every 6 minutes. 5 out of 11 tracks = 2.5 stars. But I rounded up to 3 stars because the five tracks that I DO like have got to be the best Drum 'n Bass I've heard. Especially track 05 (with its unique sounds, soothing vocals, and catchy tune) & 06 (with its awesome instrument sample). It's like a mixture of DnB and Trip Hop. Although the songs tend to be redundant, so they lean more to the DnB side, so beware to all you A.D.D. listeners out there. I still like em. But as an album as a whole, it only sees my cd player every once and a while. And when it does, it's there for only 5 songs. :)
Great album: Great album, some amazing songs, like: Different Drum, Main ingredient, Cum Dancing
Fast Soul Music: Tony Colman really comes thru here. I don't listen to a lot of drum & bass as it's hard to find any that's listenable, so can't think of anything to compare it to. I will tell you though the quality control is never let up on, great production, & not a bad track in sight, not even close. The track that first got my attention was 'differnt drum', with it's soulful vocals & you can't keep me down attitude (which pretty much describes the whole album) I had to have the cd. Check out 'True Colors' by high contrast also, its similar to billion dollar.
Brilliant: Really very nice and good. One of the better D 'n' B Albums to be put out in recent times. Best tracks Track 2, 7, and 10. Have a listen and go BANANAS. Also check out Breakbeat Era, Shapeshifter (NZ), and Pacific Heights (NZ).
