should have been called "Shut Up \oLimited Edition\c": I remember watching the episode of Osbournes on MTV, in which kelly gets easily frustrated with her lack of talent, and sharon seemed like she was amused, watching it from background. When they see that the girl on drums cant play at all, they simply buy (pretty much) another person. I was really hoping that kelly does not follow through and does a full-length album because people already hate her and it will only make people hate her even more, even if the album turns out halfway decent. No matter how much work she puts into it (and how much money her parents pour into it). Then I remember hearing that kelly was releasing a full CD called Shut Up. After a quick listening-through, I quickly dismissed the CD as lame: pretty much what everyone else. Then, couple months and weak sales later, Sharon convinces her to record "changes" with ozzy and voila! It's time for the re-release of "Shut Up." Just to clear things up, this CD is "Shut Up" with couple live tracks thrown in as bonus. This CD becomes surprisingly tolerable when you take into consideration the guitar riff;s are not to be taken as serious attempt in rocking, but instead as one of those drum machine loops on pop records. Like on an Avril cd or so. All songs are VERY catchy, which works for a pop cd. Kelly, despite her lack of vocal talents (or musical talents, if you prefer), succeeds here because her family is loaded and they can keep producing it in studio until it sounds pop. Plus, compared to most of pop-rock acts out there, Kelly definitely stands out because she is so...different from everyoen else. You can almost imagine someone like Ms Piggy squealing with anger. Changes with Ozzy seems really out of place on the record, however. Maybe they should have left it as a limited edition of shut up, which it is.

It's good to have a father in the biz (1.5 Stars): Just ask Kelly Osbourne. Without her father, where would she be? Some would say that being the offspring of successful musicians can be as much of a burden as it can a boost to one's career - look no further than Frank Sinatra's children: talented in their own right but forever stuck in the shadow of Ol' Blue Eyes. Some would say that this is the explanation behind Kelly's disappointing sales performance, but I beg to differ: In actuality, her famous father and her family's highly successful reality show are THE ONLY reasons that Kelly even received a recording contract in the first place. Have you heard the album? Kelly mostly sings in a toneless, often irritating whine, and the music is basically watered-down pop/punk a la Simple Plan and "Enema Of The State"-era Blink 182. The album doesn't sound too hot, eh? Wait - it gets better. Lyrics are a weak point on this album, though (to Kelly's credit) they're not nearly as pitiful as what you hear on an Avril Lavigne or Britney Spears album. "More Than Life Itself" is heartfelt, sure, but it's also maudlin and vacuous, too, which detracts from the song's good intentions. "On The Run" is dunderheaded, "Everything's Alright" is propelled by a seemingly endless string of cliched phrases, and let's not forget the pseudo-rebellious "Shut Up", with it's childish "blah blah blah-blah blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah". If anything, it serves to prove that anyone can be a recording artist, and that the Osbourne lineage is the only reason why Kelly has her own album. In summary: Kelly is far from the best singer in the world, but far from the worst as well - it's just that the album itself has too many weak elements to be worth your time. This album was obviously a rush job. She has a lot of work to do before she becomes even slightly credible, as evidenced by the live tracks at the end of the CD. Work on your singing, improve on the lyrics, find a more mature sound, and maybe you'll be worth listening to.
I wonder Why this wasn't a hit in the U.S.A?: "Changes" is a cheesy, lame, weak, and pointless song. (the new one at least) The fact that it was a quick hit in the U.K. really doesn't impress anyone in America anymore. So, we don't think this makes her the star (because its not her song). I'm not going to go on about how she would be nothing without a famous father. Or about her crappy song writing and singing voice. Or the fact that she was dropped from her first label (epic). What I am going to focus on is the fact that she has no Idea what she's doing! The whole idea of doing "Changes" was Sharons idea which I'm not to surprised about. Not to mention that she said she recorded "Papa Don't Preach" for Ozzy and yet it found its way on to the family soundtrack. (By the way, Madonna has never commented on the song). She has admitted that she forgot the words to some of her songs while on stage and that is all she can do on stage is sing. Ozzy can at least play the harmonica ("The Wizard"). Before "Shut Up" came out she said that the album would be more on the Punk side. (It really wasn't) Even thought it was fast and catchy that was all that was punk about it. Don't Get me Wrong There are plenty of other female artist that I hate more than her but I think he could be really great one day. That is if she took control of her music and stopped making songs because there what is popular and start writing songs that matter to her. She needs to clean her self up, stop taking drugs and drinking, stop listening to her mother, and make her lyrics more meaningful. Then she might reach that stardom if she really wants it.
!: one of my favorite cds. shes original and and i love her style!
