[.ca] Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Radio Sunnydale

A little bit of each season...a lot, actually!:
I agree that out of the US version and the UK version of the new Buffy soundtrack "Radio Sunnydale", this is the one to buy if you're choosing between the two, but if you're a fan like me go for the two. I don't know what it is about Buffy music that just sounds so buffy. The indie dark rock thing, in songs like "Key" and "Ballad For Dead Friends", goes right through every season, while simple melodic lovetunes, like "I Can't Take My Eyes Off You" and "The Kind Of Love" cater the couple scenes. This cd has a lot to say about the entire soundtrack devoted to season 1-7 of Buffy. It has the ups, downs and in-bewteens. Fans will be stoked to see "Ballad For Dead Friends" and "Blue" on here, which are hard to find (even as an mp3). It's cool to see some score on here again (like the score "Close Your Eyes" featuring on the first soundtrack album). We get one track from Christophe Beck (because some of his score HAS to be included, since it's so brilliant), "Dead Guys With Bombs", which scores season 3's episode "The Zeppo", in which Xander accidently teams up with some zombies, only to learn they plan to blow up the school (all while buffy and the rest of the scooby gang are trying to avert an apocalypse). This score music plays notably through the whole episode and mocks Xander's situation really well. We also get a track from the "newer" score guy, Rob Duncan, who I think did a great job scoring season 7 of Buffy, giving it that mournful war-cry music that fitted rightly with the plot. This score comes from the last episode, "Chosen", and the last battle and is very emotional. When I got the first Buffy soundtrack I remember looking for "Sugar Water" (which plays in season 2's first episode,"When She Was Bad", as Buffy does the "sexy dance" with Xander), so it's great to see it make the cut this time round. All in all a strong representative of the kind of music played throughout the Buffy series. I was happier with this album that the first (especially since it doesn't appear to have songs that weren't even in the show on it) A great one for fans and all who like Buffy music in general.

Radio Sunnydale Rocks!:
This quickly became my favorite cd to have in the car. An excellent mix that will conjure up memories of series moments in any true fan.
