not that good: i just saw these guys along with the greatest band to ever walk the earth(ZAO) and i wasn't impressed.but, there cd was only 10 bucks and alot of people there were wearing their shirts so i thought they must be good and i got it. i liked it for about a week then i started to hate it . i only like track 3 now. DONT BUY THIS ! BIG WASTE OF MONEY! buy zao's where blood and fiore bring rest insted.
Was in Love With This From the Beginning: Frankly i was reaching a point where all the cool guitar parts i play in my head, was better than my cd's (from over listening to them) Out of the blue, i heard this and became totally relieved. Excellent, quality Hard-Core that can make some of us smile, and all the wimps cringe...simply, it was exactly what i needed to feel perfect again...a breath of fresh air for all metal freaks.
This is what HxC should be all about: Inside of this cd booklet is a message to the HxC community about how HxC is dying rapidly due to bands caring more about things like appearances rather than getting a message across, which is what HxC is supposed to be all about. They say that a bunch of bands are now screaming about a bunch of nonsense. Well,"Remembering Never" is all about getting strong messages across. There is nothing I respect more than a band that is so passionate about song meanings that they want their listeners to know exactly what they are writing about. Inside of the booklet are the song meanings to EVERY song on the album, as well as the lyrics. I hate it when bands use these crazy metaphors and such that make you guess at everything the song could be about. I want to know straight from the band, exactly what they are talking about. And the meanings are all awesome, not all about break-ups like screamo crap. Each song is about something completly different. They talk of vegetarian views, religion, breaking fear of being alone, peer pressure, and more. Quite possibly the best band out there as far as lyric writing goes. Now onto the music. I'm not going to lie, if the lyrics sucked and there weren't song meanings, and these guys weren't all about getting the message across, I probably would have given this 3 stars. While this cd, in my eyes is MUCH better than what I've heard from their previous records, it has some flaws. I have respect for them for making their sound more HxC and not so much emo-core like they were. Thats more than I can say for Eighteen Visions, Poison the Well, or Atreyu. But I think they have more to learn about straight HxC. While none of the songs are bad, there are some that could have been better. Props for dynamics by throwing the singing in, but the vocalist is a MUCH better screamer. And if all you care about in HxC is Breakdowns like I use to, MY GOD THIS IS THE BAND FOR YOU. There is no contest at all, this album takes the platinum for most breakdowns on one cd ever. I'd say the album is about 60% breakdowns. Anyway, all the tracks are good, the best are "For the Love of Fiction" "Plotting A Revolution in A Minor" and "Incisions." I have alot of beef with "Plotting A Revolution in A Minor" though. The start of the song is just incredible. It fits the mood of the meaning of the song and builds you up for an awesome explosion. But that explosion is the song going from a pretty fast speed into a really slow singing part. It takes alot away from what has awesome potential. Think of Rose of Sharyn by KsE when Howard screams "The rising sun, will always, SPEAK YOUR NAME!!" Then it goes into an awesome breakdown the first time, then an awesome chorus the second time, right? Well, now imagine if it just dropped to a snails crawl completly, and I don't mean slow like breakdown slow either. I mean completly out of place, 100% timing change. It sounds really bad. As a matter of fact, listen to it on cdnow, that part is on there. Well, all in all though, I have huge respect for everything these guys stand for, and the music is pretty good also. I did not waste my $15, it was well worth it.
The lirycs: Yeah, remenbering never has been making me happy that im into metalcore from she looks so in red, to, women & children die first... I had the plesure to listing ,and ,get an idea of how truly good this guys are and they are not generic like alot of crappy metalcore bands out there ! R.n. is much more superiour then crap like as i lay dying i mean those guys realy suck !Anyways, I assume if you like true metalcore insted of poser one then buy it other wise skip it... Laters!!
Posi-Core died years ago!: Who else could like this crap known as Atreyu but frumpy girls who look like boys and skeleton-thin boys who look like girls? Just because it doesn't sound like Britney or Puddle of Mudd doesn't mean it isn't uninspired generic garbage. This band is not talented nor original. Their songs and image were probably conceived by middle-aged record executives who are trying to appeal to angsty, depressed teens who secretly watch MTV and shop at Hot Topic for ugly black clothing. The music is poorly written and executed. The vocalist needs to learn how to sing before he starts belting it out like he's Burt Bacharach as well as learn to scream because he sounds about as tough as a little girl. If the only reason you listen to this band is because someone told you it's cool (and that means you considering thats the only way anyone could possibly like this uninspired drivel) just realize that people who listen to REAL metal and hardcore are still laughing at you because you're still nothing more than a pseudo-pretentious loser with horrible taste in music AND fashion. Take my advice and drop the black hair dye and studded belts because you'll never be anything but a fake until you start thinking for yourself. When this metalcore fad is over in a few months you'll be stuck with nothing but a terrible cd collection, a wardrobe perfect for the funeral of a suicide victim, overstretched, gaping holes in your ears and cheesy star tattoos on your pimply skin. Oh and in the meantime, stop saying you're an individual and "different" and "misunderstood" when you look and sound identical to everyone else in your stupid little, irrelevent scene.
