Absolutely clear and easy to follow: I thoroughly enjoyed this as an instructional guide and as entertainment. The performance section was a treat with three numbers and a chance to see the completed coreography in costume in front of a club type audience. I would have liked to see a few more program stops after each phase of learning the coreography as the only way to review a certain area was to rewind or fast forward to it. A DVD guide that lets you go to to precisely combination 6 for example, would have been helpful. This was only a small thing though as it was so easy to understand that I did not have to back it up too often. This is certainly the best so far and I have seen a few.
Very Pleased: The technique section went quite quickly - not many repetitions. If you are just beginning, this maybe a little overwhelming. However, she tells you in detail how to execute the move correctly and do's and dont's. She obviously cares about teaching people to dance correctly. I've been bellydancing for about a year at home using instructional dvd's, and this is the first time I feel confident that I'm doing the moves correctly. A lot of other dvd's out there just have you mimic the move, but don't mention what muscles you should or should not be using to do it. The choreography is great. It's too bad they don't have a chapter section for each combo, as you have to go back to the menu and play the entire chapter all over again. The choreography is beautiful, challenging and fun. I find the camel and shimmy the hardest, but once I master it, the dance will look fantastic. I love that she does a live performance at the beginning (the one you're taught)and at the end with a modified version of what you're taught, along with 2 others. She does a great job.
Shaking: I do enjoy this DVD. For someone who has never done belly dancing before it sure is fun. It will take me a couple of tries to get the routine down but I think she teaches really well. I'm not at all worried I won't understand the techniques. She goes into great detail of all the moves and repeats dance steps and combinations over again so you can pick them up easily.
For informations...: Could somebody say me if the DVD's of Jillina (Instructional Bellydance With Jillina, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3) are only in English? Does it have possibilities of French subtitles or then a choice of language other than English? (Like for movies...you can play them in French or Spanish or other stuff like that...) Thanks for helping me!
A little more advanced than beginner: A wonderful instructional video with very few exceptions. In this DVD, Jillana covers the basic belly dance moves you will need for the perfomance you are about to learn and then goes on to teach you the choreographed dance broken up into several sections. Pros: She is so graceful! All of the moves are well done and she explains each one so it is very easy to understand. A superb DVD for those who have a background in belly dancing. Cons: A beginner would probably benefit more from a video that focuses on the basic moves alone. I wished that there were more chapters so that I could skip back to re-practice certain moves. Overall, this is a great and challenging DVD. You get to learn a choreographed dance, Alf Leyla We Leyla, a fun and upbeat routine. It's difficult at first, but as you learn the moves through repetition, it gets much easier and very fun. Her professional performance of Alf Leyla We Leyla at the end is very inspiring and makes you want to practice it even more!
