[.ca] Baby Einstein: Baby Noah: Animal Expedition

From Amazon.com:
The baby-to-toddler set gets an expedition through a variety of animal habitats across the planet in this installment of the Baby Einstein series. Despite the title, there is no real biblical connection to the material other than Noah's Ark toys and a few paintings (minus Noah and family). The subtitle "Animal Expedition" is far more accurate, as the 38-minute program takes the youngsters through the African savannah, rainforest, ocean, Australian Outback, and polar regions. As in its predecessors in the series, this one focuses on a few animals in each segment with repetition through toys, puppets and nature footage. Spoken words are minimal, but percussion and classical music (Beethhoven, Bizet, and Mozart, here) are maximized. (Ages 1 to 2) --Kimberly Heinrichs

The best one we've seen so far...:
I'll start out by admitting that I am not a big fan of TV for little ones (which is the only reason I couldn't give 5 stars). My mother bought this DVD for my daughter when she was 6 months old, but it was only around 14 months old that she began watching it occasionally. She wasn't very interested in the beginning, but now at 19 months, she loves it. She recognizes many of the animals from the books we read; she also likes to call out the names of her "favourite" animals. After some good-natured teasing from my mother, I decided to expand daughter's movie collection of one. Some friends, who told us that the other Baby Einstein DVDs were far better than Baby Noah, loaned us a few others to try (Neighbourhood Animals & Baby Neptune). Neither one captured my daughter's attention the way that Baby Noah does. I find that there are more learning opportunities with Baby Noah, than with the other two mentioned. Maybe it's the variety of animals from all across the world (and the beautiful shots of each one in their environment) that fascinate more than the others. In any case, this one is still our favourite.

Oh dear!:
I bought Baby Noah for my 16 month old grandson. He loves his Baby MacDonald--the only thing he is allowed to watch on TV, but I knew his mother prefers to have him exposed to real pictures of animals. The first of the movie was a success, with the pictures enjoyable for grandma to watch as well, but the fish section scared him to tears! So much for too much realism....

Not as good as the others we own:
I bought this for dd last week and she actually cried!!! I found it wasn't as good as the others we have (Baby Neptune, Baby Bach, Baby Noah and Beby McDonald) She loves her Baby Einstein videos but not this one!!
