[.ca] Sunrise Over Sea

John Butler is bloody legendary mate!:
John Butler is an amazing musician that has released some incredible c.d's. Sunrise Over Sea is certainly no exception. John Butler's twelve string classical acoustic guitar, slide guitar and banjo are accompanied by a deep sounding double bass and some really catchy drum beats. His lyrics are all meaningful, and even if you can't get into the political side of his songs, you'll still find it hard not to sing along and bob your head to these tunes. If you enjoy Sunrise Over Sea, you'll really enjoy his other c.d.'s. I recently saw Johnny B perform live and was blown away... If you get the chance to see him live, don't pass it up! Listen for these songs: What you want (an extremely moving song- and even more so live!) Company Sin (exremely catchy lyrics and tune) Peaches and Cream (a very meaningful song dedicated to his wife & daughter) Hello (catchy song with a moral!) If you like John Butler Trio, chances are you'll like Xavier Rudd (another talented Australian guitarist)

An amazing album:
Folk, rock, funk, soul and blues are all masterfully combined in this amazing album. I first came across the John Butler Trio at JazzFest in New Orleans and I've been a huge fan ever since. My only disappointment is that Canada hasn't caught onto this artist who was named "best male artist" in Australia because I would love to see him perform again.

Not too shabby, John:
This band has got some refreshing rhythm and soul. The bluesy guitar riffs intermixed with folksy sounds invoke memories of the past. The music's got a nice calm sound to it. Best thing about this band: syncopated rhythm in the guitar, as well as the pithy way Butler sings the lyrics. What needs a bit of help: some of the lyrics are pretty hurting--> Treat yo Mama Right is definitely lacking in spark, as well as What You Want, but the rest of the songs aren't bad. Overall, definitely worth your time.

Absolutely Brilliant:
I came across this album while in Australia and it looks like John Butler is Australia's greatest new export... If you are a fan of Ben Harper or Jack Johnson then you will love this album, it is great from start to end.

5 +++ Stars - One of my favorite CDs:
My first introduction to the John Butler Trio was through a Television interview. I was so impressed that I went to our local CD store that evening. I asked to listen to the CD before buying it and after listening to 30 second excerpts from each song I was SOLD. This is one of my FAVORITE CD's. Anyone who comes to my house or rides in my car must listen to this CD. Everyone is impressed & agrees that this is a must add to a CD collection.
