Magnificent! Classic Julia - including the very first show ever! Julia Child flinging food, making mistakes, battling with huge fish and generally changing the way we look at food forever. These shows are a sampling of the seminal food television experience ever. The black and white shows seem so old to our eyes, while Julia seems so young. With all the changes in the world of food television, the recipies are still current (if delightfully laden with butter and cream) and worth making. To see Julia slug and pound bread dough is inspiring. The photos in the DVD holder all are taken by Paul Child, her husband and great support - she often mentions him on air. It was he who diagramed the stomachs of a cow, in case the train bringing one to Boston for the taping didn't make it - the stomach did make it, but his diagram helped our understanding. Today, would there be an entire 30 minut programme on Tripe? Don't worry, she also does sweets and everything. My only sadness is that the funniest show she ever did - the Buche de Noel was not included - PBS - WE WANT THAT SHOW! If you like to cook, love to watch great television, or just enjoy eating and drama of live shows, you must have this in your collection. Julia Rules!
