[.ca] Commit This To Memory

strong pop-punk:
This is a very strong pop-punk album. Great energy and neat vocal. Check out if you're a Yellowcard or Fall Out Boy fan.

Very Good. The more you listen, the more you love...:
Good job from our friends, Motion City Soundrack. I picked this album up, rather out of the blue, becasue Mark Hoppus' name is on the back, just after the "Produced By:" part. For an album I picked up without knowing much about and with only hearing a song or two (only a few times), I was very impressed. This is the music I like (so I have decided). Great use of poppy keyboards, without abusing them and going too far (I.E: Hellogoodbye; their "Zombie! Aliens! Vampires! Dinosaurs!" is another that I bought without knowing much about. It's not bad, though). If I had to, I would change the vocals. Justin is an OKAY vocalist, however I feel that he still has room to improve. Another problem may be actual lyrics. A good album should have ASTOUNDING lyrics (see: Death Cab;s "Plans"), and "Commit This To Memory" has got them, however they do not follow through the entire album. An example comes in the track "Hangman" with: "Fed up with "made you look"/and dirty crooks without a clue. Not bad, but not moving enough. Now watch that be the line that everyone falls in love with. On a final note, as a bassist myself I am quite impressed with Matt Taylor's work. Simple, pickstyle, resembling that of this albums' producer. It's really fun stuff to play. My favorite track on this album (I bought the deluxe, with the "Invisible Monsters" track) is both "Attractive Today" and "L.G FUAD". Great album though, can't wait until July (I think) for the new one.

Lyrics!!:
Every song on this album is amazing! These guys can write... these songs have the most outstanding lyrics, really deep and metaphorical, but the music blends it so well... they're just an amazing band all together...

I have already commited this to memory!:
What attracted me to this CD was the song "Everything Is Alright". It is one of the best pop song I have ever heard. I can't stop shakin my booty when ever I hear it. At first I was disappointed with the CD because I felt the other songs were not as strong. Having lstened to it for a long period of time I have changed my mind. Lyrically these guys a brilliant. Check out "Hold Me Down" or the very poignant "LGFUAD". The instrumentation creeps up on you as well. I find myself humming the tunes constantly. I took my kids to see them and Fall Out Boy in the summer. All the MCS band members came and hung out at the Merch table. They patiently got their pictures taken, signed autographs and talked with the fans. Looking back on these pictures, I believe the lead singer plugs his finger in a electrical outlet every morning to get his look!!!
