An Amazing CD!:
I think that Jewel is an amazing artist. While people think she may be selling out, they don't realize that she's probably one of the most prolific songwriter's out there and she plays her instruments - guitar and voice - extremely well. Most mainstream singers nowadays don't do either. Jewel has a knack for writing songs that are both catchy and heartwrenching. Even '0304' had some great tracks on it. 'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland' is no exception to that. Jewel brings back old material that fans only heard live or on Angelfood tapes, and she does so with great musicality. If you've never heard 'Satellite' or 'Long Slow Slide' before, you will love them. They will give you a glimpse into the beginnings of Jewel. There are hints of country all through the record and it's nice to see Jewel go back to her roots. The whole album is like a story of her life and she pulls of each track with grace and confidence. The album reminds me more of 'This Way' than anything else. Standout tracks include: 'Satellite,' 'Drive to You,' 'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland,' and '1000 Miles Away.' All in all, this is a wonderful disc that I just can't get enough of! Go buy it!

great improvement:
Although some may say that '0304' was a great album, we all know that deep down inside, it was a huge dissapointment for Jewel. None of us saw her career going anywhere new or special, and we all spoke of her as though she were a faded 90's music star, who had some great hits. Boy, were we wrong. Jewel has stepped up to the plate, swung hard and hit us right between the eyes with a great country-folk album, which goes right back to her roots. "Goodbye, Alice in Wonderland" showcases great songwriting, variety in style (but not in genre) and maturity since '0304'. Stand-out tracks include 'Good Day', 'Satelitte', 'Words Get In The Way', 'Goodbye Alice In Wonderland' and the haunting '1000 Miles Away'. The lack of 1 star is because a few of the songs begin to sound the same and aren't as memorable as others. A great improvement for Jewel, and a great buy for any Jewel or folk-music fan.
