[.ca] Arrested Development: Season Three

FOX is where smiles go to die:
This was the funniest show on tv. It is over now because of FOX. This network must be run by the dumbest jerkfaces in the industry if they couldn't make the funniest series of all time, a multiple award winner, a critically acclaimed masterpiece last. This show had so much going for it, and while we're lucky it lasted as long as it did, it's the biggest shame that it wasn't given the attention it truly deserved. FOX ruined Arrested Development and they ruined my life. They are bad men and they made me cry.

The smartest comedy in the hands of the most foolish network:
Arrested Development was the smartest sitcom I had ever seen. It took an entirely fresh approach at television comedy and made it work (and work well, at that). It relied on observation and subtle elements to achieve such a great comedic effect, and let the viewer decide when they should laugh, not having a laugh track interrupt the delicate and profound comedy that is...was Arrested Development. It is definitely the most intelligent show one has ever seen on FOX, and its cancellation was the most foolish mistake FOX could ever have made (save never airing Arrested Development at all). I miss Arrested Development. This DVD set will not come out early enough.

Development Arrested:
For its three seasons on the air, Arrested Development was the funniest and quirkiest show on television. While Season 3 saw a slight decline from the heights of the first two seasons, it still provided plenty of classic A.D. moments: the house-car, the 'Church & State Fair', the Bluths' trip to Saddam's mini palaces, and the amazing series finale. A word of caution, though: Season 3 will make little sense if you haven't seen the first two.

The funniest show EVER on television:
I just got Season Three and have only watched most of the first disc, but I've seen them all on TV anyway. Even though they knew the writing was on the wall and the show was about to be cancelled, they still held nothing back and this season is just as funny as the first two. The only drawback to the show was that it had to be closely followed by the viewer, or you'd miss the humour which is probably why the show never had good ratings, much like Police Squad. Let's hope the rumours are true about an AD movie. Another complaint about the show by critics was that too much of the humour was "insider humour" and that the average viewer wouldn't get it. While that is true, I don't think it takes away from the show to the casual TV viewer, but makes it so much more funny to those who understand it. If you're on the fence about the purchasing the series, I encourage you to get them all. You won't be disappointed.
