From Amazon.com: Often overlooked in Elvis Presley's career is his love of the Southern gospel tradition, though he had hits with actual gospel tunes ("You'll Never Walk Alone") and some simply steeped in gospel sensibilities ("In the Ghetto"). He Touched Me: The Gospel Music of Elvis Presley features music and interviews with contemporaries talking of Elvis's determination to keep gospel part of his repertoire; once he angered Ed Sullivan by insisting on performing "Peace in the Valley" on his show despite Sullivan's instructions not to. There are many gems ("Where Could I Go," "How Great Thou Art") and some hunks of cheese ("Swing Down, Sweet Chariot" from The Trouble with Girls). This could have been a strong two-hour documentary, but unfortunately the producers padded it into three, meaning some clips make multiple appearances. --Anne Hurley
Powerful and emotional unique look at the King.: I have always loved Elvis' Gospel music. This DVD shows an indepth look into the Spiritual life of Elvis and his love and longing to love the Lord. I found the interviews to be very inspiring and hopeful for Elvis' salvation. One interview with one of the Sweet Inspirations tells of Elvis and praying and laying hands for healing on one of the girls because she had an tumor which she was healed of. Any fan of E who wants to know the deepest workings of the man must have this DVD to understand him and trials. One book quotes his aunt believing Elvis did all his drugs because of the guilt of his life style. With that said remember these things Elvis died reading Insearch of the Face of Jesus and the King of Rock and Roll won 3 Grammies ALL for GOSPEL music!!! GOD bless you all JB
An excellent look at Elvis' often overlooked spiritual side: I caught this biography on my local PBS station. I was almost moved to tears, as He Touched Me brought to life the spirituality and faith of Elvis Presley. Here was not the Elvis of the tabloids or the Elvis of popular assumption. Here was an Elvis that was entirely down-to-earth, a man who performed and sang with real conviction and real faith behind his words. As told in the biography, Elvis once stopped a concert midway to point out to screaming fans in the first row that, despite their sign proclaiming him King, he was not, and that God was. He Touched Me is full of inspiring revelations of the Elvis we all think we know.
"AWESOME,AWESOME Presentation" of Elvis's Spiritual Side!!!: Elvis knew who the "REAL KING" IS!!! If you thought he was just "COOL", then take a look and listen to the Real Man, and you will get a much deeper respect and love for him. Very personal interviews, story's, and Performances, You'll Only Get Here!(If you Love Jesus and Elvis) This is a MUST-HAVE!! Enjoy & BE-BLESSED! (ScottyG. Knows You Will)!!!!!
Too Much Talking and Too Little Music: I felt ripped off because this DVD consists of mostly talks by people about Elvis and very little singing by Elvis himself. Even when he sings, the songs were chopped off, cut and sliced. It's impossible to enjoy any music of Elvis with this DVD. To make matters worst, there is nothing enlightening or interesting in those interviews. It's mostly very boring and repetitious remarks about how Elvis liked gospel music, etc. etc. etc. The title of this DVD is very very misleading. Beware!
Elvis, God and the Devil: I am not a Christian but i do like gospel music. It's amazing to see the drugs, food and sex addicted Elvis performing such great gospel songs. What a performer and what a man he was. I really liked this dvd and it's worth the money. A great docu and great music.
