[.ca] Intuition

This is how rock should be.:
Before the music scene took a 180 degree turn in 1992, the rock bands before that time actually had some talent. Great vocalists, blistering guitarists, deafening drummers, and some great melody. TNT was a band that had all of these attributes. This album is a must for any of those who like that talented and exciting music of the 80's which is so lacking today. For the alternative/grunge rockers, stay away! Maybe with the release of Def Leppard's Euphoria album, this style of music will become popular again and TNT will once again give us great music!

Melodic and powerful with unbelievable guitar playing:
This disc is second only to Tell No Tales in TNT's discography. Already in the second measure of Caught Between the Tigers, we can see we're in for a guitar extravaganza. By the time we hear the solo in the gorgeous Tonight I'm Falling, our mouths are open wide with disbelief. As a guitarist myself, I can honestly say that Ronni le Tekro is one of the best rock guitarists ever and THE most technically proficiant bar none. Not only are his chops second to none (and I literally mean none), but he plays as melodically and phrases his lines as well as anyone out there. Guitar solos can only be as good as the song, though, and this album delivers the goods. Nearly every song is excellent. My only complaint is the piercing screech of singer Tony Harnell. If you can stomach his wail, you'll do well to delve into this album as well as Tell No Tales.

Melodic and majestic.:
Intuition is a respectable album. I have always liked TNT. I especially like their 1987 album Tell No Tales. This disc is a pretty good followup to that album. Intuition sports a very good production. The songwriting is good, and the musicianship is skilled and tight. Tony Harnell doesn't disappoint with the vocals, either. I've always admired his singing skills. The album's backing vocals are also layered, majestic, and impressive. Ronni Le Tekro is a great guitarist that has his own sound. His guitar solos are well constructed, and this disc contains some good guitar riffs. Intuition consists of ten tracks. It's a melodic hard rock album that's in a mainstream direction. All of the tunes are listenable, and some of them are quite catchy. The songs that I like the most are "Tonight I'm Falling," "End of the Line," and "Wisdom." All three of these songs have very impressive choruses. "Tonight I'm Falling" is melodious and sports a meticulous guitar solo from Ronni Le Tekro. "End of the Line" is a nice ballad with majestic backing vocals. This album does differ somewhat from previous releases. It's consistent, but also quite predictable and formulaic. TNT's characteristic European flavor that adorns past albums doesn't seem to be in evidence as much. Also, there aren't any tunes with a metallic edge to them. In other words, Intuition is a good album, but it's a little too commercial and not very adventurous. That aside, I still respect this album. It sports some impressive aspects. It's worth a listen.

Diamond in the Rough:
Intuition may be one of the most overlooked TNT albums (not to mention commercial 80's metal albums). After their breakthrough metal/pop album "Tell No Tales" in '87, they produced this album "Intuition" in '89. I bought the cassette tape a long time ago and was pleasantly pleased with yet another TNT product. This is a fantastic metal album delivering the same great sound of their previous 2 albums, with no shortage of the amazing vocals from one of the best in the biz, leadman Tony Harnell. Complimenting him once again is the phenominal guitar playing of Ronni Le Tekro and bassist Morty Black. Some great tracks on this album include "Intuition", "Forever Shine On", "Take Me Down (Fallen Angel)", and perhaps the hidden gem "Tonight I'm Falling". No filler material here, and that classic TNT sound once again. Bottom line, this is a fantastic follow-up to Tell No Tales, and their last great 80's metal album before TNT progressed to newer and different endeavors. Get this album...

A Truly Overlooked Album:
TNT is a band that was surely looked over during this period of time. They deserved so much more attention than they got. I love their "Tell No Tales" album, and this album was certainly not a disappointing followup. Tony Harnell has a magically majestic voice along with the backing vocals and the music. Ronnie Le Tekro proves again what a superb guitar player he is. His solos do no wrong, and the band stands out on "Tonight I'm Falling," "End of the Line," and "Wisdom." The backing vocals on this album are patented with originality just like on "Tell No Tales." This was the last great album they made. Recommended.
