THIS IS ONE WACKED OUT WOODPECKER !!: Universal Studios has to be commended for their efforts in presenting the "Woody Woodpecker and Friends" classic cartoon collection on DVD. This wonderful three disc collection is a fantastic value for fans of all ages and this set is filled with fun extras. The three discs are single sided/dual layer with great packaging and artwork. The collection consists of 25 cartoons per disc and bonus extras, complete with individual slim cases for storage. The 75 original theatrical cartoons are completely uncut and have been digitally remastered for DVD. The quality of the video transfer for these cartoons range from average to very good. The cartoons in this amazing collection aren't listed as being completely restored, however the overall quality is definitely better than anything I had hoped for as a "Woody Woodpecker" fan. If you're a fan of this wacked out woodpecker and want to relive the hilarious antics of Woody & his friends again and again, you need to buy this set. They're is a disclaimer on the rear packaging clearly stating that this set is for the adult collector and may not be suitable for children. Still not convinced,More information on the features of this set can be found on www.woodywoodpecker.com.I hope this review was helpful. DVD Features Include: -Available Subtitles: English, Spanish, French -Available Audio Tracks: English (Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono) -75 original theatrical cartoons -Walter, Woody, and the World of Animation -Behind the Scenes with Walter Lantz -The Woody Woodpecker Show TV episode -Cartoonland Mysteries: discover how Oswald the lucky Rabbit was created
Beware of Manufacturers mistake-Discs one and two are mixed up!: Here is another manufacturing faux paux courtesy of Universal. The contents of Disc one are firmly ensconced on Disc two and visa versa.Specifically, you will pull out and play disc one and find that the cartoons you seeing are listed as being on Disc two according to the jacket.Conversely when you play Disc two the contents now playing are the contents of Disc one.A VERY sloppy mistake and one that should easily have been caught by a quality control person;if indeed ANY entertainment companies are employing any these days!?? Just like another recent release,"The Frankie and Annette Collection" by MGM which has promoted its' sets' movies as all widescreen while including a movie which is not. Also when this paricular faux-widescreen offender was released previously it was then touted as widescreen when it was not! Go figure folks. This is why as consumers we have got to be VERY pro-active when it comes to the quality of the products we buy.We pay good money for these things and we deserve and should demand some expectation of good quality and value from the manufacturers. It's just plain economic common sense, not to mention good business PR for the big boys. I would at this point usually do a review of the product but this is another beaut of a mistake too many. Universal......???....the very LEAST you can do for consumers of this product is make a recall of this particular run of sets and correct your mistake. But,I will NOT be holding my breath!
