Cash Grab Anyone?: After two succesfull Guitar Hero games,"Guitar Hero Encore : Rock The 80s" was released in July 2007 exclusively for the PS2 and receved mixed reactions from fans of the serie. This Guitar Hero title seems to be too much of a "cash grab" for fans of the series as the other games in the serie had more songs,8 levels of difficulty(im not talking easy, medium, hard and veteran here) and "Rock The 80s" has only six with only 30 songs and limited unlockables. This title was rather a quick one as the new publisher of the serie,Activision wanted to either get quick money or simply put something on the market while fans waited patiently for Guitar Hero III : Legends Of Rock to come out.Add to that the fact that there is no nearly no new levels,if any and they were mostly taken from Guitar Hero II.Limited unlockables and bonus tracks make it even worse and add to that the game has less songs than the previous releases then its definatly a letdown. The songlist for Rock The 80s were taken from the 80s of course and focuses mostly on Hair Metal songs, tought they are some harder more metallic songs notably Iron Maiden's "Wrathchild" and Judas Priest's "Electric Eye".If you don't like hair metal then this edition of GH is probably not for you.Its definatly not the best GH game ever, actually its the worst, and it really depends on your tastes more than you wanting to rock. While there are certainly a few classics here the game has its share of letdowns too. Here is the songlist for "Guitar Hero Encore Rock The 80s" : 1.Opening Licks "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" - Quiet Riot "We Got the Beat" - The Go-Go's "I Ran (So Far Away)" - A Flock of Seagulls "Balls to the Wall" - Accept "18 and Life" - Skid Row (encore) 2. Amp Warmers "No One Like You" - Scorpions "Shakin'" - Eddie Money "Heat of the Moment" - Asia "Radar Love" - White Lion\o18\c\o19\c "Because It's Midnite" - Limozeen (encore) 3. String Snappers "Holy Diver" - Dio "Turning Japanese" - The Vapors "Hold on Loosely" - .38 Special "The Warrior" - Scandal "I Wanna Rock" - Twisted Sister (encore) 4. Return of the Shred "What I Like About You" - The Romantics "Synchronicity II" - The Police "Ballroom Blitz" - Krokus\o20\c "Only a Lad" - Oingo Boingo "Round and Round" - Ratt (encore) 5. Relentless Riffs "Nothin' But a Good Time" - Poison "Lonely is the Night" - Billy Squier "Bathroom Wall" - Faster Pussycat "Los Angeles" - X "Wrathchild" - Iron Maiden (encore) 6. Furious Fretwork "Electric Eye" - Judas Priest "Police Truck" - Dead Kennedys "Seventeen" - Winger "Caught in a Mosh" - Anthrax "Play With Me" - Extreme (encore) So what you have here is an unfinished, underdevelopped, quickly made game with no intention other than get some cash.Had Activision taken the time to design new levels, new unlockables and had they included more songs they could have made this a much better game.Instead they screw fans of the series and don't seem to even care about it.Can i recommend it?Not really because of all the reasons above, had it been released at say 20-30$ it might have been worth it for die-hards. Add to that the fact that the game is only ainvailable on the PS2,no XBOX 360 version or on any other console.I probably would have bought the game for my XBOX 360 but god knows why they only released it on the PS2!Overral its not really good but if you are a fan of the series you might want to have a look at this, otherwise stay clear from it.
Guitar Hero Encore: Rockin to the 80s review: it was fun but you dident get eney unlockable songs and you could not by other costums and there wasent meny song buy over all it was fun so I would buy it.
