[.ca] One For All

My Review:
Peter Criss is the REASON I started playing drums about 8 centuries ago. I thought he was great, and I still have a good amount of admiration for him. I was very sad in 1980 when he was booted out of the band, and I missed him throughout the 80s even though he released 2 albums (Out Of Control and Let Me Rock You) in 1981 and 1982. He would show up in various drum magazines regarding him joining bands and switching to a new brand of cymbals throughout that decade, but nothing else musically was released until 1994 when Criss Cat #1 came out. It was a pretty hard rocking disc with a few memorable cuts even though it included the remake of Beth which was just utter cheese. It was like, "Yes Peter, we remember who you are. There is really no need to do a new version of Beth." It didn't seem too sincere of an album though since he was always more of an R & B guy, but I understood he had to release a rock and roll album after such a long time to possibly renew fan's interest. "All For One" is a very mellow album from a guy who has influenced millions of drummers, has seen and done it all, doesn't owe anyone anything, and is nearing retirement age. He made his millions back with the Kiss reunion it is very cool hearing his voice and drums again. The songs, again, are quite mellow, but that's what he wants to do and I respect that because he's Peter Criss. They are mellow but quite good. He rocked with Kiss, and maybe he's had enough of that and wants to do something that he himself enjoys without Paul and Gene dictating.

I Expected Much Better; This Is A Definite Musical Let-Down:
I had been waiting to get this CD for a couple of months when I read in the local paper that Peter Criss was putting out a new disc. Alas, when I put it on my stereo I was heavily dissappointed. I knew that it would not be anything like what he did with KISS (and trust me, it isn't anywhere close!!), but with basically no upbeat songs of any type it literally put me to sleep!! His earlier solo offerings are much, much better in my opinion.... Unless you are a big KISS fan, or Peter Criss fan, I do not recommend buying this CD. I only bought it because of this fact, but even then I doubt I'll ever listen to it again. At least not anytime soon. In short, it was a total waste of money. Rating it with one star is being really generous here.
