Amazon.com Product Description:
With its huge rear tire, the Tyco RC Terrainiac is able to tear through dirt, rip through water, and even shred through snow! This high-performance all-terrain radio-controlled vehicle sports an oversized, single rear tire that looks more like a ball with tread. Aside from giving the Terrainiac a futuristic appearance, this approach allowed Tyco engineers to make the car pivot (similar to a human torso) on one controllable joint. Two front rubber tires and two tires in the middle for extra traction make sure that the Terrainiac can hit high speeds. Add in "sphere drive" and now you can turn on a dime and cruise over wet terrain, thanks to the hollow construction that gives the durable plastic tire buoyancy. A spring on top of the car helps absorb more adventurous bumps or jumps. A huge, hollow back tire allows this RC vehicle to cruise over water. A futuristic vehicle with unique controls. Colors may vary. Because this car has unique motion, with the rear section twisting sideways, it requires a unique controller. You actually twist the controller to steer the vehicle, while using the forward and backward paddles to change direction. Give it a spin on dirt, water, grass, asphalt, or even sand. The Tyco Terrainiac is definitely a multi-terrain titan! Everything that you need to start tearing it up right out of the box is included: the Terrainiac All-Terrain vehicle; twist-action digital transmitter; one 9v battery; and a turbo rechargeable 9.6v battery pack and charger.

Not as cool as he expected.....:
My 9 year old son wanted this toy sooo bad for Christmas. Well, he got it, and was probably the happiest kid on the block. He took it outside to drive it in the snow, (because it says it will go in the snow) and it kept getting stuck. However, the snow was the hard icy kind not the soft fluffy kind. Anyway, I think he has played with it a total of 3 times and it has just been sitting in our garage collecting dust. For some reason he just doesn't find it as cool as he thought it was going to be.

No Snow Terraniac:
Terraniac is a cool-looking toy. It doesn't go in snow, as stated on package, because the tires don't have enough traction. We don't know yet if it goes on piles of dirt or through water. But, I'm sure it will go well on grass, cement, and blacktop.

Needs a lot of space and the right texture snow:
My 6 year old son got this as a Christmas gift. It was too big and bulky to maneuver indoors (unless you have a large open area room) for a child his age, and the snow was too crusty for it to go outside. He hasn't wanted to try this toy since Christmas Day, but I'm hoping with new snow, it'll go outside and he'll regain some interest!

Expensive but my son loves it!:
My six year old received this for Christmas 2007. He enjoys it so far though we've not had too many opportunities to use it since there is so much snow outside. Although it says that it goes through anything; it will not go through too much snow. A little on the driveway it can handle but not much more. It has tons of speed so you need some open space to use it. Will add more follow up info. as we use it in other types of weather.

All terrian capabilities of this toy are Overrated:
The best thing that came out of me getting this toy for my 5-year old son is that it has taught him a lesson about truth in advertising. For weeks he was repeating the commercials to me verbatum about how this machine was insane on any terrian and how it could shred though snow. After about 10 minutes it became clear that this thing gets stuck on a mowed lawn, forget about mud or snow. To be fair we havent tied it on sand yet, but I dont expect it to do much better. We had a long talk about how commercials dont always tell the whole story and I think he learned a valuable lesson. If he did then it was worth what I paid for the toy, but other then that dont waste your money on this thing.
