I want to tell all my friends....: You know how it is: you're standing in the kitchen, no, make that dancing in the kitchen. New Devendra Cd is playing. What was it called? Roll on Down Thunder Mountain, or something like that? You haven't been paying all that much attention to it until you suddenly find yourself uncontrollably dancin' happy among the vegetables. And then you stop humming and bopping and watching your one woman show in the kitchen window and you say to yourself: Holy Moly. This album is **%*#""!! great. Devendra. You are a young and oh so talented god. And you really give value for the money 'cause this Cd just goes on and on and every song is wonderful and you find yourself not wanting it to be over. And after every pause, you wait, holding a little breath and then, - YESS, there's more! And you say, Man. Fantastic. Keep it coming! He just takes you on such a delightful, suprising journey. It's like a good trip; you don't want it to end. And just when you're sure it will - another song! Well, I'm out of words to express, so I'm just going to go sit and listen and wait for the end to come quietly. And then go back to the beginning. What was the name of that album? Ahhhh. Smokey Rolls Down Thunder Canyon. As my nephew, Drew, would say: Sweeeeeet!
fantastic: Regardless of whether you've heard, liked, or dis-liked Devendra Banhart's previous albums, this album will shock you by how good it is. It combines so many styles of music and is seamlessly pulled off by the musicians. Banhart's voice is so good at emphasizing the feeling of each song and you get the sense that he and the contributing musicians knew exactly how each second of that album should sound. Listen to this album.
