All you need: These needles are beautiful and it's great to have every size on hand. I love the harmony wood as opposed to the nickel because they don't slip as easily. You won't regret buying these.
The needle ends are fantastic -- the cables have problems: I wish I could rate the cables and the ends separately. I LOVE the ends. The taper is excellent. The feel and finish of the wood is perfect. Yarn glides smoothly on the wood and the tips feel good in your hands. The way the cable screws to the ends makes for a smoother join than Denise needles. I also like the colored wood -- it adds some flair to the needles. Unfortunately, I have had several problems with the cables. Unfortunately, this has happened frequently enough to where I have to do a "tug test" before I use a set. In fairness, most of the cables I have were purchased when the production of these needles were pretty new so it could be that they have worked out the kinks. However, I'm very leery to use invest a bunch of money more into cables if the quality is not up to par. I have gone back to using Lantern Moons which are much more expensive but at least I don't have to worry about them coming apart in the middle of my project.
Artistic, Crafted & Affordable Needle Set!: I'm a beginner knitter just going onto clothing. Having selected some potential knitting patterns I realized that I'll need several more needle sizes and even circular needles to acheive the items I want. Wanting to solve my needle deficiency with a single set purchase I looked into needle sets. Learning that what can be done with straight and double pointed needles can be done with a circular needle, in addition to the cable length options of an interchangeable set, sold me on the idea of trying them. Reviews of popular sets on the market advised that the prominent design flaw of most sets was the snag at the joint between the needle and cable. Options came HIGHLY recommended for their seamless joints. I read a typical complaint solution prior to starting was to tug on the connecter & cable and if they are loose or come apart, use fast curing Gorilla Glue to fix before starting. I tried metal needles and switched to bamboo because I prefer the organic nature and "drag" of wood needles. Having tried the Options Harmony birch wood needles I'm in love. Not just because the needles are luxuriously smoother than standard Clover bamboo but they have precision sharp points and are a wonderful weight for knitting. My stitches are more even uniform. But the most impressive feature is that they are so beautiful I'm proud to own them. A negative is that the needle sizes aren't stamped on so a needle gauge chart will be my next purchase. Also, as another reviewer stated, the storage case is made of cheap plastic compared to the gems they contain. Not important enough to deter me from the recommending this set HIGHLY.
Nice, but could be better: Save yourself the disappointment, and get the Denise needles instead! The needles themselves are okay looking, but for the price I expected better packaging; the case is a flimsy plastic cosmetic case. I was hoping for more polish!
