Pennisetum 'Red Head'

A bold and early-blooming selection of everyone's favorite ornamental grass, Red Head is an eye-catching treat year-round. It begins blooming a full month earlier than other red Fountain Grasses, offering a rich rosy-red shade that's sure to draw the eye. These plumes are good-sized, too. Fully 8 inches long, they are suffused with deep, rich color beginning at summer's end and continuing through autumn and into winter in warm climates. The plumes are especially eye-catching because they arise on plants just 4 feet high and wide -- the perfect size for the border, along the driveway, or as a hedge. And like all Pennisetums, the blooms dry right on the plant and make nice winter accents, catching the falling snow and rustling in the breeze. Quick-growing and very robust, it will reach full size within a couple of years. Zones 5-9.
